The royal family

Lady Colin Campbell says it was Princess Anne who made the comment

There was a lot of speculation who made the comment after Harry and Meghan's Oprah interview.

She says it wasn't a racist comment. The family were concerned about Meghan in general and it has been twisted by Meghan and Harry.

I don't think Meghan and Harry are on Lady C's Christmas card list. 😲

Lady C is a self -appointed royal 'expert'. Nothing more. Goodness knows why anyone listens to a word she says.

Lady C is nothing but a rent-a-gob with a posh accent.
These so called ‘royal experts’ must thank the Lord for Harry and Meghan as it seems that criticising and berating them is keeping these people in work. What would these people talk about if there were no Harry and Meghan.?

And anyone actually trusts anything Lady C says?!

She's so indiscrete, there's no way she gets any insider info!

I don't normally comment on these threads, but I'm biting.

That woman is insufferable. Definitely rent-a-gob with a posh accent. Didn't she also write a book about H&M? She's a posh nobody who likes to feed off the crumbs of other peoples' lives. And as such is entirely untrustworthy in what she says: if it gets her attention, she'll be on screen saying it.

It's a shame that breeding, money, influence and presumably a great education result in this. So many better things I'd hope for my life if I had her advantages.

I don't really care who did.

I did however wonder about the context - perhaps LadyCC could find out if it was a standalone comment, which is how it's been portrayed, or if it was part of remarks also referencing ginger?

She's no idea. She only became a Lady after marrying Colin after knowing him 5 days and then split 9 months later.
Using her married title for the last 45yrs despite barely being married to a Duke. It gives her gravitas to write whatever she wants.

How would she know!

Does Lady C actually know anyone in the RF, really? She has never even met Meghan.

To be fair, as much as I don't like Lady C - I'd heard from the inside that it was Princess Anne who made the comment (but it's been taken hugely out of context!). That said, Zara was none too pleased!

Lady C must be kicking herself that she didn't aim higher herself.

Well it’s a new theory. Anne is the most down to earth of any of them, though, and canny, so I’d be surprised if she’d had racist thoughts or expressed such to Harry’s face about his girlfriend.

Lady C is a terrible old gossip, and a crashing snob but she did break a lot of truths about Diana, scooping Andrew Morton by a year or two. She got so many things right (bulimia, adultery and so on) that she was widely disbelieved when she published in the early 90s.

So I’m fairly neutral on the chances of Lady C being correct. What she gets correct she gets by being an appalling old gossip, but I’m sure she gets a lot wrong too.

Can anyone summarise the video? It seems a bit long for just that revelation so is there more to it?

H&M must have known that by not saying who it was, the entire world would be speculating anyway and every member of the RF would be dragged through the mud. People like LCC would obviously crawl out of the woodwork giving their opinions (whether true or not) but it will further plant mistrust and fan gossip.

What "comment"?

The "comment" that Harry declined to specify and that neither he nor Meghan could agree on the frequency and timing of and that Meghan didn't hear?

That "comment"?

Yes. It was wrong to cast aspersions on the whole family. Do you think Harry realised that, though? He doesn’t seem the sharpest and it’s his family.

He really isn't the sharpest pencil in the case is he, I don't think he realises a lot of what he says.

Yes, it was very long, but I did discover if you set the speed to 1.75x, she starts to speak at a more normal and natural rate.

Basically, she said that at first no one was bothered by Meghan and assumed it was just a fling, but then they realised it was more serious. Meghan can be very charming and the Queen and Charles were both charmed by her, but other members of the family, such as William, Kate, Sophie and Edward, weren't as taken with her. Meghan thinks she knows everything and thought she would revolutionise the Royal Family. Anne in particular wasn't taken with her and felt she was not a good fit for the RF. She was in particular very concerned about Harry having children with her as she felt she was going to be a lot of trouble in the future. The RF weren't concerned about race but any objection against Meghan got twisted into be against her race somehow. She also called Harry thick or something similar. Sorry, I'm totally paraphrasing here.

It's nothing new really. It wouldn't surprise me if Anne didn't take to Meghan, she seems to have a low tolerance for people.

i do agree that LCC is a crashing snob and terrible gossip. It will be interesting to see if there is any response to this or if it will be ignored by the press.

😂

That’s how I fit my work podcasts in while I’m driving, but usually it makes everyone squeak a bit.

I’ll try it at lunchtime.

It would be good if this toxic parlour game could be brought to an end.

I can't picture Anne saying it. My guess is Charles or William.

Regardless, this is just more 'whitesplaining'.... 'Oh, they took it out of context'.

Yeah, right. Ask any BAME person how often they have been told "oh, you took it out of context!" when they objected to any racist comment. Probably every single time. It is simply more invalidation of a BAME person's experience and attempt to silence them. You cannot take certain comments 'out of context', how stupid does this Lady whatever her name is think we are?
