Harry and Meghan Resigning (Act 6 Scene 2) Is Everyone Okay?

This is Thread Eight in a series which I did not imagine would last more than one.

Meghan's friends are now writing on social media that she has been fortunate to "escape the clutches" of the Royal Family.

We, who care enough for the Queen that we are appalled by Meghan's blatant disrespect for the Crown (and the family which embraced her) are still reeling as we go from revelation to revelation. This bizarre and unprecedented situation has unfolded over a period of just eight days.

We are now beginning to see what Meghan's likely agenda was. It seems that abandoning the UK was her plan even prior to the wedding - a wedding which cost the British people £20,000,000.

Not many people actually begrudged paying that £20,000,000. But some were prescient enough to say that the marriage would not last and that Meghan would abandon this country once she had a child.

She has. She has fulfilled those prognostications amply.

It was just rather...quicker than perhaps we had imagined...…. and a good deal more brutal. Cries of "racism" have abounded - cries which are simply not justified.

What will happen next? Meghan has gone to Canada, a country which does not seem particularly keen to foot the huge bill for security which her presence requires. She is dropping in on charities for disadvantaged women, almost unannounced, without the backing or knowledge of Buckingham Palace. It is cringeworthy and embarrassing in the extreme.

Prince Harry seems to be lost in the maelstrom of public opinion. What will happen next? Will Meghan announce a second pregnancy?

And is the RF okay?

I was in thread 2 I think

If this is a summary it’s taken a horrible turn

I see the Mail on Sunday are arguing that she has no reasonable right to expect her private correspondence to stay private. I find that appalling but also, I can’t help thinking they wouldn’t have done this to anyone else in the RF.

I’m starting to think it was Harry’s escape plan and I can see why!

I’m wondering when Harry will leave? This weekend?

The RF is dysfunctional in the extreme. I don’t doubt it’s a toxic environment to enter into. I don’t blame her for wanting out.

But she’s taken them on at their own game, and she’s not the one who will lose. It will be Harry and, to a large extent, his children.

Once you’ve seen the inside, that’s it. You’re under their control in one way or another. Money is the smallest of the weapons in their arsenal. This country has too much riding on the RF’s reputation. Harry will end up a lost prince, like many in the thousand years to now.

Very sad. He should have known better, and would have had he not had such hubris. She - meh. Irrelevant.

Also, I think the pair of them will be very happy together, free in the wilderness. She has only gained things. He has lost so much.

He has no idea how cold it is out there.

“ It will be Harry and, to a large extent, his children. ”

What is he losing?

As for children, we’re all stuck with the choices our olds made for us.

The poor unfortunate sod will soon find out just how very cold it is.

Fortunately his family will be glad to welcome him back.

The sole allure of a happy wife and children 5000 miles away from the rest of your family, who you ostensibly were close to or at least fond of, and who happen to be the RF, will pall eventually. In time Harry will understand his place in history, and his legacy. I’m sure he wants and needs freedom, but there’s a way to go about it. That’s what the RF’s advisors are for. They’re the real guardians of the RF’s reputation. Their primary concern isn’t the individuals, it’s the institution. That’s why it’s foolish to ignore their advice, to act in haste. Haste = under 3 years from meeting Meghan to today.

@fallen121

I am too tired to think of a suitably impolite message for you.

Sleep well. I am still locked out of Instagram.

Oh bugger. Who was that person whose follow request I accepted then? They had pictures of cats. And jewellery. I assumed it was you.

Confused

@fallen121 You ladies have been talking about this on NINE threads and you should really find something better to do...like getting it up to TEN ASAP.

I am utterly ashamed of how invested I am in this.

When do we think Harry will realise his mistake?

He's never known any life outside the royal family. He's giving up a career, a country, a family.... that's so much. Does he know what a new life outside the RF really means? He's never experienced it.

They have been very rude. The Guns and Rose's song. Megan's comments via friends how she hates UK.
Think we have been used. Good luck to them but no royal titles now. Mr and Mrs Mountbatten.
Bye ...... dont come back

I think Harry will go. He's utterly foofstruck, to quote a PP.

What Meghan has now said about the UK and life in the royal family - if true - make it impossible for her to return. It's all so contrived, this stuff about the soul, clearly meant to echo what Earl Spencer said at Diana's funeral.

She has no intention of ever coming back to the UK. Quite where that leaves them, literally, remains to be seen.
