I've just realised that my DH of 22 years has never thanked me for going through that (x3).

Outrageous! People are scathing about ‘push presents’ but I don’t see why men shouldn’t be bloody grateful at what women go through to deliver their children into the world. Saying thank you a few times should be the bare minimum.

I was just saying there's nothing like the adoration of a man who has just witnessed his wife giving birth. My husband thought I was superwoman. For about 48 hours...Grin

I must remind him.

Lol exactly. His words were brilliant empowering for all women who go through childbirth.

I wanted not just a thank you for a bodily function - I wanted worship! and expensive jewellery

You need a thank you for a bodily function?

It’s not like he thanked her for taking a dump. She pushed a bloody human being out of her body.
Yes women do it every day but it’s still an amazing thing.

How big are your shits IsYourGoogleBroken if you think giving birth is equivalent to a 'bodily function' Grin?

I remember my DH telling me that I had bigger balls than him after DC1 was born.
Not a thankyou, but a clear acknowledgement of how tough childbirth must be even though he will never feel that pain

"You need a thank you for a bodily function"

There's a big difference between bringing a human being into the world and taking a shit.

Did no-one ever explain this to you?

Report
itwazim · 06/05/2019 18:46

Did you thank him for his initial contribution? (x3)

I want a nice bit of jewellery if everything goes ok and we get a baby at the end of this pregnancy.

You need a thank you for a bodily function?

If it's a very long, painful, potential life threatening one resulting in bleeding, tearing and permanent damage to my body a thank you wouldn't go amiss no!

Report
EskeewdBeef · 06/05/2019 18:48

I don't think I was ever thanked. To be fair to him, there wasn't much choice in the matter by that point, and we did both want babies so I wasn't doing him a favour. I'm sure he was grateful for my efforts, but to verbally thank me might have been an inadequate gesture at the time. I just got the feeling he was chuffed to bits, amazed, awestruck etc.

He seemed to be in awe of what a woman's body can do - and there's nothing wrong with that

Growing and birthing an entire human is an amazing thing

You need a thank you for a bodily function?

A painful, risky and to this day potentially lethal one, which usually requires significant effort?

Given the difference between the effort the average man puts into becoming a parent and the effort the average woman puts in, a
‘thank you for agreeing to do all that for us’ is probably polite.

@IsYourGoogleBroken

You need a thank you for a bodily function
A bodily function that kills millions of women and girls every year especially in the developing world.
If you’ve ever witnessed a woman die in childbirth from massive blood loss, septicaemia, obstructed labour etc.
Not to mention debilitating birth injuries such as fistula which is so stigmatised that women are unable to return home.
You wouldn’t be so flippant.

I'm not sure how such a conversation would come about though. Once tot is out: "Well done, love, cheers for that!"

It’s lovely, that new parent flush. Bless him. My husband thought I was some sort of goddess. Doesn’t last 😂

Harry was so lovely in his announcement of his and Meghans baby.

DP thanked me for having our babies, he kept telling me how amazing I was. Still thanks me now for our dc.

I think it’s sweet how in love Prince Harry is with his little family
