The litter tray

Teaching old cat how to use a litter tray.

It looks like we will have to move soon. Had my cat for about four years but he has never used a litter tray.

As we may be moving I really need to get him used to a litter tray. We have tried before but nothing. But he will have to be kept in obviously when we get there.

Anyone else done this and had any luck? He is 12. And not used one for years.

Ours reluctantly use a litter tray when they need to be locked in but we have to spray the couches and any cushions with felliway, hide all dirty laundry and hide any rucksacks. For some reason those are the three places they wee when stressed. The felliway sets off DH's asthma (and isn't very pleasant for me either) so I have to open the windows, spray liberally then run. It's expensive but worth it compared to the cost of a replacing a couch which is what we had to do last year.

There’s a calming lotion which you out in the back of cats necks. (Like wormer/flea stuff).
Work as well as feliway. Might be more dh friendly? Available in pets at home etc.
