The litter tray

I absolutely love my chocolate Burmese but she is a diva in every sense of the word. How a 2 year old 3kg brick wrapped in silk can rule an entire household I'll never know! 😹
Any fellow Burmese "slaves" here?

Go on, tell us a tale. She looks as if butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. I refuse to believe anything you say about her! Grin

She is totally lovely, but, among her many talents include crashing work Zoom meetings (she can sleep for hours but seems galvanised by the sound of my voice and wants to be the star of the show - she generally is 🙄), dragging her toys upstairs while I'm at work and demanding that I play with her, insisting that I let her in/out the minute I try to eat anything (in fairness, she is probably trying to save me from myself 😂), nagging for a hot water bottle in her cat bed during the day (I'm the hot water bottle at night!). Erm, just general diva behaviour really. Everything revolves around her. The breeder did warn me when I picked her up that she was strong willed - and I didn't believe her 🤣 A friend met her and immediately nicknamed her "the diva". I was offended but my friend was right 🤣
Basically, she's a bit of a character and a bit of a star. She got several mentions in my work appraisals last week, friends ask after her before they ask after me, and my uni age children are coming home to see "her".
It's a good job I love the fluff ball - especially when she pukes over my carpets 🤣😂🤣😂❤️

Boycat isn't a Burmese, but he's incredibly needy. When I wake up, I'm allowed to go to the loo and by the time I'm back in my bedroom he's on the bed waiting for his cuddle - by cuddle I mean full on lying down snuggled in to me, with my head on his flank, one hand buried in belly floof, and the other hand fondling face/ears. Must last at least 15-20 mins, and often a re-run requested after I've got up properly & dressed etc.

I am permitted to feed them & have a mug of tea reading emails & MN, then have to sit next to him on the sofa for more fussing. The sofa cuddles will be requested at least 3-4 times during the day, with the most pathetic little prrp noise or sometimes even the quietest meow ever. If I go upstairs to the loo and the cats are on the bed, I am expected to detour via them for more fussing.

Evenings if he isn't asleep, I'm expected to do sofa cuddles all evening. However Girlcat them decides she wants HER version so my time has to be shared. Then bedtime fuss downstairs, Dreamies routine upstairs, they wander off, wait until I'm under the duvet, then he appears by suddenly leaping on the bed so I have to crawl out & repeat the morning cuddle.

Me, ruled by my cats and under the paw? How could you suggest such a thing! Grin

🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Mine insists on sleeping in my bed - stretched out alongside me with her head on the pillow (she is much better looking than the previous occupant and doesn't snore as loudly) but I was never never never going to let a cat in my bed. You can tell who lost that battle can't you 🤣

Dcat is half Burmese half Asian and has us all under the paw. My username refers to her.....

She's 19 now and DD who's 10 adores her and Dcat loves her too.

She used to like to perch on the top od doors and yell at us. She did this from the top of the garage roof once when it was raining and we'd been out (she could climb down and the cat flap was there!) but she preferred to tell us off and tell us to open the window so she could climb in and be towel dried.

She is absolutely beautiful OP. The late Maia was a very strong willed diva. (Unusual for a Persian)
Cheddar is very needy. Always wants picking up for cuddles. Sleeps next to my head at night. Yowls at me if I go in the bath. Etc.

I'm glad I'm not alone with my needy cat. Another thing she does is tell me when she's used her litter tray so I can clean it. And if she loses me in the house she yells at the top of her lungs with a meow that sounds disconcertingly like "muuummm" until I call out and tell her where I am 🙄
My family seem to specialise in diva cats. My mum has one, my sister one - and I grew up with one (part-Siamese) who could out-diva the rest of them by himself. Perhaps it's something to do with the owners... 🤣😂🤣

Omg @Heffapotamus I thought it was just me with the needy kitty! My boy sounds like your cats sibling we were even going to name him diva u til I found out he was a she.
Is it mainly Burmese cats? I've just started to google and wonder if my is Burmese 🤔

What a great thread! I was owned by a Burmese once and she was brilliant and so vocal. She would have a good natter with me every morning. I have a British Shorthair now and it's plainly obvious that BSH are the polar opposites of Burmese cats.

Mine sits up on the towel rail while I have a shower so she can eyeball me. It's the only time she goes up there. Here she is pointing out I am late getting to the bathroom.

Mine is very much of the opinion that it's not a real cuddle unless BOTH hands are deployed - one to cradle her, one to fuss Grin

I am a glutton and have 3 cats! Two orientals and one semi long haired. Mine are needy but reasonable. They ask for food when hungry and play when awake. The orientals are sisters and play together which is a help. They would otherwise be high energy and demanding!
They are wilful and have no respect for any boundaries, worktops are walked on, food is stolen, people are jumped on and climbed up. They are always curious and want to be part of what's going on.

Oh that is so typical! Mine sits on the bath mat and eyeballs me. She hates sitting on Lino, tiles etc - obviously too cold for her delicate paws 🤣

I too have a very very needy boy. From the moment he sees me in the morning he is very vocal at seeing me, telling me what he's been up to, what he wants to eat and when.

Here he is being quiet for 2 mins, with his very calm and chilled brother from another muvva in the background
