Getting kitten to use cat cave

We have two 9 month old kittens. The male sleeps in the bed that we got when we got them on the landing outside our bedrooms. The female wanders around and sleeps downstairs on the sofa or on the stairs. I think she would quite like the bed too, she kneads it when she gets a chance, but male is dominant and goes in there every evening when I chuck him out of our room. Recently she's been trying to sleep under Dd1's bed, which has a nice new soft carpet. I'm not keen on them being in the bedrooms at night as we all sleep with our doors closed so think they'd be disruptive trying to get out in the night. So I bought her a new cat cave style bed but she's so far ignored it. Should I put some catnip in it to try and encourage her to use it? Or any other tricks?
I know cats are notorious for ignoring their beds but hopeful I can entice her in.

Can you get her the same bed that the boy is using and put it wherever she wants it ?
Rub the inside of the old bed on the inside of the new bed so that they smell the same.

You don't. Put it away somewhere but in ' reach ' of the cat. Mine didn't use theirs and now 4 years later - loves it !

I bought Colin one of the soft beds as he had taken to our Sherpa fleece blankie.

He ignored it for quite a while but I lay the fleece over the bed and he eventually got in. Slowly moved the fleece aside he was lying in just the bed

He loves it now and I don't have to share my blankie

Either make it inaccessible or threaten to bin-it. When ours stopped using his I said to dh I was taking it to the tip and lo and behold he started using it.

He was out when I said it too.

Take your best clothes that you dont want cat hair in and put them in the cat cave. Ta daaa!

Or, put it under your daughter's bed and let her sleep there.
