(7 Posts)Hello - I'm a new cat owner - I've just acquired a lovely rescue cat, thought to be about three, in good health. What insurance would you recommend please? Is there anything to look out for in the small print?
Thanks.
I use Tesco and they've paid out twice for me, no queries and very easy to do. One was a big claim as well
Tesco as well. They've paid out £21k of claims.
The main thing to look out for is that it's a lifetime/covered for life type policy. This means they will cover each condition for as long as needed - some cheaper policies only cover the first year of each condition. This will be particularly important as your cat gets older as some chronic conditions like diabetes, hyperthyroidism, kidney disease etc. can be costly to treat.
I've always been happy with Petplan and they've paid many thousands to me over the years for many cats. I've also heard really good things about Bought By Many and Agria. It may be worth asking your vet who they recommend as they know who pays up quickly and easily.
My vets are very relieved when they hear I have Petplan - it seems they are really reliable.
Bought by Many has been great for my 2. Its a lifetime policy
We use animal friends and found them very good, they have always paid out when we’ve claimed. Our puss has a heart murmur and we found they were one of the only companies who would cover him.
