The litter tray

She used the purpose bought cat bed!

15 months ago when I accepted my fate that the Siberian I was fostering would never be leaving I bought her a bed. She of course ignored it and choose my office chair and cushion.
Thursday this week I picked the forsaken bed up from my bedroom floor gave it a poof and tidy before my cleaner came. Then later in the day I put it back where it had been previously ignored. Since then she has left the bed only to eat and use her litter tray.
It would seem a purpose bought bed needs to be ignored for a critical length of time before it can be used!

Mine ignored a purpose bought rug for 12 years Shock

She now sleeps on it every night. It's never too late.

Maybe I shouldn't have given away the purpose bought bed after all, I could have let it gather dust for another decade before it came in handy!

The Zooplus boxes are a favourite here, even bigger and sturdier than the Amazon boxes and can be discarded when they are manky.

I had to explain in a Zoom meeting the other day why I had a big box turned on its side with a scarf inside was sitting on top of one of my livingroom units!

Ours refused to entertain the idea of the cat bed I bought him until months later DH said ‘See, I told you it’d be a waste of money’.
I swear Dcat heard him and decided he couldn’t let DH be right, as 2 minutes later Dcat was asleep in the bed! It’s his favourite place to sleep now (and he has a wide choice of beds and sofas too!). I love how contrary cats are!

Cat hammocks are favoured here, particularly in the winter with the benefit of toasty radiators.

Hmm I have a basket that I brought for my PFBC which she ignored 4 other cats have ignored it since. Until the Siberian I had never purchased another cat bed,
She loves the passed down totem that other cats have ignored, but hates the new cat tree.
That's before I get on to her fickle way with toys!

One of ours would never demean herself by ever sleeping in a comfy bed provided by a mere human when she can lie uncomfortably on bare tiles or the cold wooden floors
as somehow she has inherited my mother's martyr complex.

The other will obsessively sleep in one bed - whether a cardboard box, handmade cushion or bought cat bed - for weeks and then walk away never to return ever again. I used to think perhaps they smelt bad and would wash the blanket or whatever but it's not that.

Mine always sleep on the purpose bought bed. Although it's OUR purpose bought bed for humans Hmm I gave up getting them their own beds years ago.

I thought you were gonna say she pooed in it Grin

Mine like to rest in kitchen cupboards. Luckily I have a couple of empty ones. I gave up buying anything cat specific a long time ago. They've never played with a toy but will happily sit there for half an hour pushing the same pen off the table...

My cats ignored the cat igloo and hook-over-the-radiator beds.

A shoe box so small that you have to shrimp in it? Heaven! A manky old towel in the wash basket? Heaven! I love cats and their foibles 😻😻

Siberian #1 totally ignored beautiful purpose bought cat bed and enjoyed sleeping on bookshelves, on top of the books. Now aged 5 has rotating preferences, currently my daughters pillow / head is in vogue for overnight purposes.

Only bought a cat bed for Siberian #2 out of lingering guilt, but he’s frequently to be found snuggled up in it.

They are big climbers and love sleeping on top of the large cat tree I have discovered (or Siberian #2 will once he has learnt to stay anywhere for more than 30 seconds when there are cardboard boxes to eat and spiders to be chased).

PS how big is cat tree? Siberian 1 wasn’t all that bothered until I got a ceiling height one and now he likes to sit up there and pretend he’s in an ancient pine forest, I think.

I bought our cat a bed that she ignored it for about 2 years, so I put it on my bed to take a photo of it to sell it on FB marketplace and the second I hit send on the advert she climbed inside and fell asleep in it!

I got one of those furry cat doughnut beds and immediately he was in there, kneading away in bliss. About a month of him in there 23/7, then one day he changed his mind and hasn't laid a paw in it since.
I've stopped trying to work cats out Grin

I made one of those from a furry jumper. Arsehole loved it for a month - loved it, drolled over it, kneaded it, slept in it for 12 hours in one go - loved it. Then got up and never returned. Yesterday I put it next to him and he ran away from it like it was made of poison.

@Timshortforthalia evidence caught sneakily.
@TheForgetfulCat it is not massive I acquired it as DP bought new trees for his boys, but they prove to be inadequate for their bulk - they both broke in 3 days. So he took pieces from the broken pair and made a new one. I put the toys on it to tempt her, but she jumps up tosses the toys off and then thrashes them for having the audacity to interact with the tree!

Ah. I think they do like heights. This is Siberian #1 pretending he’s in a snow covered pine forest (with central heating of course).

He’s never been great with toys either. Gets very excited for about an hour and then twigs they aren’t actually alive and goes off to chase rats by the compost heaps.

I bought a cat igloo - my cats were in it all the time for about two weeks ... then completely abandoned it.

My fleecy radiator hammock was a hit with one cat, he uses it nearly every day even when the heating isn't on - mind you, I had to try it on 3 different radiators before I found one he liked! The other cat's never touched it.

Oops, wrong photo. That’s his peaceful pine forest being invaded by the kitten who definitely wasn’t going to be able to make it up the cat tree.
Currently at the alternating between ferocious play fighting and mutual ear-washing stage ...

Ours will only sleep on the cat bed if it’s upside down. Apparently the fluffiness is too comfy for her. The rest of the time she wants to live in a box.

We just extended our house and in her last 'tour' p/a MIL asked if its now big enough for us to actually buy some little cat beds for the ginger pair.
The ginger pair are 14 years old. Does she honestly think there's no official purpose-bought cat beds because the house was too small?

Ginger boy prefers a dining chair to sleep on.
Ginger girl prefers DH. Hmm

I had a wicker basket that I put behind a chair before I threw it out. They'd never touched it before but suddenly Snorg loved it. It's now in my bedroom and she sleeps in it every night!

Though she loves her tipi so can't complain.
