As of Saturday, we will be a four-cat household! We are adopting 3 adult cats that were handed to a shelter when their owner couldn't look after them any more. I don't think our old boy will know what has hit him!

Anyone who has a lot of cats, do you have any tips? Best places to buy bulk food / litter? Any behaviour / entertainment tips? We already have toys, a laser pointer and we've just taken delivery of a cat tree.

Old boy does his business outside and I think the new ones will do eventually but in the meantime, is 2 litter trays enough?

I must be mad but I'm very excited!

We currently have four cats and I've multiple cats for the best part of 35 years. One large litter tray, one feeding spot. Works for us.
I think your old boy will be in for a shock though - not sure the best way for you to manage that (other than very slowly).

He is very chilled out with the other cats on the close and I've been reading up on ways to introduce new cats slllooowwwwwly. Keeping them apart, scent swapping, feeding them on each side of a closed door before seeing each other etc. Fingers crossed it'll all turn out ok.

I have four and it's a great number to have. Mine are two pairs of siblings and a year apart in age. They spend a lot of time together - now that the weather has turned I often find them all on the bed upstairs or at least in the same room spread out on the bed/their own bed/on the cat tree. But there's also lots of space for them all to spend time apart if they want to do so.

Mine have a catio as a safe outdoor space which they love. I follow the litter tray per cat + extra rule and they are spread out downstairs and in the spare room upstairs. We use Cat's Best natural clumping litter.

Zooplus is great for food, especially good quality high protein wet food at really good prices (Bozita is a big favourite).

Four is nothing! That's just a normal number of cats. I have 20 something permanents and usually around 10 temporaries, and even that number isn't too hard to cope with.

I have five indoor cats. 1 or 2 visiting ferals.

Seems normal to me.

Two litter trays. Tons of toys and sleeping places and beds. Several bowls of varying heights. Pets at home for bulk food and treats. B and m for treats. Tesco for cheap litter to mix with expensive smelly cat litter from pets at home. Amazon for toys. Zoo plus looks good but the delivery agents is a bit pants in our area and it will get delivered to any random house.

Thanks everyone, very useful! I saw some felt cat hidey hole things that fit into an ikea kallax on zooplus so i've ordered them and they are supposed to be arriving soon - hope they turn up now!
