Last night with my beautiful girl

My beautiful girl is 18 and tonight is our last night together. I know I’m doing the kindest thing for her by letting her go tomorrow but I don’t know how I’m going to get through the night. I keep crying when I think of taking her to the vets in the morning.
She really is the most amazing little cat, she’s funny, loving and has been such good company I don’t know how I’d have got through lockdown without her. I’m going to miss her so much, I hope she knows just how much I love her.

I'm so sorry Flowers

She's a very beautiful girl. She knows how much you love her, no doubt about it, and I'm sure she loves you too.

She’s a proper Tabby isn’t she? Very pretty girl with her luscious whiskers.

What’s the matter with her?.

Get some really good pictures of her paws and you can get paw print jewellery/key rings/stamps made by Cheekyittle prints.

She is gorgeous. I’m so sorry. What is the matter with her? We called the vet out three times for our last cat to PTS and each time I chickened out, as I felt that she was still comfortable and enjoying things like sitting in the sun. The vet told me I would know when the time was right, and he was absolutely right on this. It is such a tough decision to make. If it helps, I had my cat on my lap and was stroking her when the vet gave her the injection. She was purring, and she hadn’t purred for weeks, so I am sure that she was ready to go.

It's such a horrible decision. But sometimes it is the kindest decision.

Thanks for posting this Mrs S. I will have to do this for my cat very soon and I'd very much like to have her on my lap just as you described.

We are not quite there yet but close and it's so painful to think about it.

I appreciate your story.

Thank you for your lovely messages everyone. She has kidney failure and a respiratory infection that hasn’t responded to the treatment. She can’t eat solid food, and is barely drinking now. She’s lost so much weight and today she’s started to fall over as her back legs are giving way. She’s currently lying on my pillow drifting in and out of sleep.
The house will seem so empty without her, for such a small cat she has such a huge personality.

@Summerdayss21 Thank you, this morning was so very hard but it really was the right time as she had deteriorated over night. I’m doing ok, very sad but I’m comforted by knowing that she’s not suffering anymore. She really was the most special little cat.

Oh mycatslave I just well upped reading your post. It’s so hard bringing them in knowing what’s happening. We had to put our much loved tabby down a few years ago for very similar reasons, I cried so hard I couldn’t speak for the rest of the day. She was clearly a very loved cat and had a wonderful life with you, big teared stained unmumsnetty hugs

Cailleach1 · 25/08/2020 02:27

You can see how relaxed and trusting she was in the pictures. You did right by her to the last. You ensured she was relieved from suffering any more.
