Cat escaped into rain straight after flea treatment

Treated the cat with advocate this morning (preventative), usually try to keep him in for a while, but he escaped into the pissing rain! I imagine he will be hiding somewhere and hopefully won’t be too soaked. It probably had about 30 min to dry before he got out.

At what point would it not have been effective do you think?

If you rubbed it in really well I think it should be ok. He would probably have found somewhere to shelter pretty quickly. I personally wouldn't re treat.

I think you’ll be ok, he’ll be holed up somewhere dry hating you for your treachery.

I have multiple cats who have a tendency to groom each other to get the flea treatment off. Angry The vet told me if I could keep them apart for 30 minutes after treatment, that would give the drug long enough to be absorbed. So I would say you would be ok if your cat had 30 mins to dry out before going out in the rain.

(Regardless, if it was a preventative measure only, I wouldn't re-treat.)

Fluffycloudland77 he’s only just forgiven us for the eye drops a few weeks ago, now we’ve betrayed him again!

Thanks all Smile

Wouldn't he have hidden somewhere pretty quickly if it was raining? I'll be honest I've never thought about this before!

Eye drops and flea treatment, you are brave.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel it was drizzling when he got out, but soon began torrential pouring! I think he did find somewhere to hide though. He came back in about 20 min later, wet but not soaked. I think the dash home got him wet rather than the downpour. (Love your username... work!)

Oh my god he looks like mine when he's just had his flea treatment.

The first time he was silent for three whole days: not even one miaow or meep for food. He was furious with me. Drama much?! Grin
