My beloved boy has been missing for 48 hours now. He is an outdoor cat and comes and goes as he pleases. He ventures further than our garden but is always within earshot of me calling him.

I've hung up blankets outside, put his usual food out and walked around the surrounding area calling him. I'm not sure whay else I can try. He is on every local facebook page and I've reported it to the microchip company and Cat's Protection who I got him from. He has a collar so its obvious he has a home.

Has anyone got any positive stories of their cats randomly reappearing after unexplained absence?

We have had him for a year so he knows his home. I'm worried he's either hurt or that someone has taken him in.

@BalletShoe Sorry to hear that 😢 my nans cat disappeared off the face of the earth for about 6-9 months before, he was about 2 miles away living with someone else for a bit until someone bothered to check his chip. My nan had given up all hope and nearly had a heart attack when the vets called to tell her the brilliant news! He'll come back, you see these threads on here all of the time, and on facebook! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

It's heartbreaking when they decide to go on the missing list. Mine have disappeared for a few hours and for a night or 2, especially when they've recently come to live with me. It's as if they get an urge to go and explore a little further away from home. Hope he comes home to you very soonSmile

This week, thanks to a chip, i reunited someone with their cat that had been missing since March last year. But of course I hope it doesn't take as long as that for your boy to turn up.

Thanks all, I've tried all the usual tricks to no avail so he's either pretty far from home or something's happened to him.

Here he is, in all his fluffy one-eyed glory. You couldn't miss him if you saw him for obvious reasons!

One of mine was in a neighbours garage for 2 days. I was calling & I head her. She was fine.
At the start of Corona another one of my cats vanished. We found her shut into a house that was empty & being renovated. We were looking for 4 days. We heard head mewing when we were looking through the windows. We broke in & rescued her.

Go out tonight when it's quiet & call a lot!
Fingers crossed for you.

It’s still early days, I’m sure he will turn up!
Go out in the evening just before it gets dark and call him, shake the Dreamies. Leave some bits of his outside and leave an easy access for him to come back in. Also knock on doors and put something on your local Facebook, ring vets around. I cannot stress how important it is to knock on neighbours’ doors and ask them to check their garages, outbuildings and stuff like that. Knocking on doors takes time but does really work.

Like @Chickydoo says go for a good walkaround and familiarise yourself with empty houses, houses which are having work done and stuff like that. Cats are nosey buggers!

Thankyou all for your well-wishes.

My boy brought himself home this afternoon but could barely walk and has been injured somehow from the waist down. He has been sedated at the emergency vet and will have an overnight stay while they x-ray and examine him - he was in too much pain for them to do so when he was awake.

I need to wait till morning to find out how he is.

Thanks all for your well wishes. Poor boy has fractured his leg in two places and the bone has punctured his skin right through. He's back at our regular vet now for more x-rays and will probably need pins in it. Waiting to hear when surgeon is available.

Someone has hit him with their car and not stopped Sad

OLGA So pleased your fella managed to make it home unscathed. If only they were all that savvy!

Fluffy I'm so sorry, that must be heartbreaking. Its awful to see my best pal in such pain but it must be worse not to have them back at all.

I don't see why the law against hit and run applies to other animals but not cats. If someone had come forward it might have saved my boy days of pain and me alot of worry.
