Getting kittens to like DH

Right then cat lovers... Our cats have always ended up preferring my lap rather than DH’s despite the fact that he loves them dearly and does just as much for them as I do. It’s started being the same with our brand new 8wk old babies. Which is really sad for DH. Is it a hormone thing? Is there anything he / I can do?

Our cats never sit on me and I'm the only one sorting out nice beds for them in front of the radiator, getting the food they like, getting the sodding burglar alarm zones changed so that they can go upstairs when we are out/in bed etc.

I think they can sense desperation to be honest Grin

Can he put a soft fluffy blanket on his lap, brush them with a soft flannel and a few dreamies.

I have never yet had a cat who wants to sit on my lap, yet DP only has to park his bum for 10 seconds and he’ll have a bastard feline all settled and cosy doing the smug eye blink/purr thing. Hmm

Yes I too am the one doing the feeding, grooming, paying the insurance, food etc.

Same with the dog tbh.Confused

Same in our house - I get sat on, DH doesn't. No idea why, esp because he had her for 10 years before I came along!

I’m having the same issue with our newly adopted cat. We’ve having him feed her and give her treats, but then he forgets. 🤷‍♀️

Grin at the comments. Cats have no decorum or sense of duty! That’s exactly why we love them!

(Not a serious suggestion) Grin

All our cats preferred men so would go google eyes over dad and would sleep on my brother's bed. Some prefer women.

My dh fidgets and when the cat was alive it took him about 6 years to sit on dh but he’d get too hot and move the cat off him which we all know is not allowed.

Maybe women are squishier in the lap department?.

Yep my cats much prefer me to DH, but I'm much more still and settled than him, plus they were my babies befire I met him and I do all their work, cleaning littertrays etc too!

Yes, they sense desperation and neediness. He needs to man up and ignore their contrary little asses.

I can’t get my fluffy terrorist to even glance my way without food but he is obsessed with my very indifferent husband. Definitely senses my pure desperation Envy

My 19 year old cat Bluebell despised my ex husband despite him doing everything to be her friend. She bit him every single day for 10 years until he left (for other reasons) and drew blood.
But to be fair she really only likes me and doesn't like anyone else.
I'm always having to tell friends not to stroke her or she'll bite but they never listen then they are angry when she bites them.
She's fine if she's just left alone but people do not listen.

Everyone likes to think their a cat whisperer.

Alternative reason, men are naturally stronger than women aren’t they? Is he heavier handed than you when he fusses them and it’s uncomfortable for them?.

You’ve actually had the audacity to start a thread mentioning kittens without a picture.
You do know pictures are mandatory, don’t you. AngryGrin

Our cat is on a mission to get DH to like him, but DH doesn't get it and is, and always will be, a dog person God only knows why I married him

I adore cats, always have, but will DCat sit on me? Nope, no way, or at least only for a few minutes during which I feel totally honoured. I'm sure he senses that I'm desperate to be loved. Every other cat I've had has adored me.

Unfortunately for me, current DCat's heart belongs totally to DS.

Is he looking at them in the eye? I cat interprets direct eye contact as a threat unless the person slow blinds and looks away.
