The litter tray

Where does your litter tray live?

In our old house we had a utility room so the litter tray lived in there. Now we've moved and have got an open plan downstairs so we've put it in the spare room/office but I'm working in there now and dcat is reluctant to use the tray while I'm in there during the day.

She's a self-imposed indoor cat, has never enjoyed going outside. We have space in the bathroom but DH thinks that's disgusting - I have no idea why, we shit in there so why can't the cat?

Ours is in the utility room. Before we had a house with a utility room we had it in the bathroom, and then in another house we had it in the loo which was separate from the bath/shower in that house. It seemed logical to put it in the same place the humans peed and crapped!

Ours is in the hall (it was under the stairs with a catflap in the door -but even though they had two huge trays - actually they were underbed storage boxs - they missed and peed/poohed on the floor )

The hall is quiet
Away from their food
Always accessible (toilet/bathroom doors are shut)
We can all hear them scrape inside the tray and catch a waft so we know it needs cleaned asap.

We use poohbags straight into a small bin in the porch.

My cats never soil outside (except malecat in the tall plantar if I'm watching him. Swine that he is !)

Downstairs loo - we don't have a lot of rooms so this one makes sense. We leave the door ajar overnight - during the days the cats go outside

Why does your DH think its disgusting to have a litter tray in the bathroom? Isn't it where everyone else goes to the loo too?

We have one in the Bathroom and one in our back hall.

In the kitchen. There is no other space for it.

Downstairs wet room because the guinea pigs live in the under the stair space. It's a pain because we can't use the shower in the wetroom. Hopefully the guinea pigs can move outside soon.

We have 3 (one kitty) one in the front room behind the door. One in the middle room in the far corner and one in the bedroom for his morning wee (he is like clockwork).

It might be too many, but at least he has the option dependent on what room he is living in that day :) He prefers to number 2 in the middle room (even when i'm working at the dining table).

Ours is in the downstairs loo. Sometimes if I'm in there the cat likes to come in and use her tray too - I take it as a compliment... Grin

I used to have it in my en suite. Funnily enough every time I went to the loo the cat did too!

One in the kitchen, one in the spare room. There was no room in the bathroom.

In the kitchen as there is nowhere else for it to go. Luckily he doesn't use it much as he spends a lot of time outside and seems to go outside more

Cupboard under the stairs, put a catflap in the door.

Seems to work fine. We don’t store anything else in there except cat bits like her carrier, litter etc

19 year old kitty has disgusting toilet habits and stands in poo and treks it all about, I have one litter tray upstairs in the spare room (good thing I live alone) on a large tarpaulin and usually manage to catch her and stick her paws under the tap if she treads in it. I have occasionally come home to find poonami Confused
The other litter tray is in the downstairs loo which I hardly ever use. If I don't have one up and one down she gets caught short and poos on the floor.
She tries hard to be clean but she is very old bless her.

We have one in the hall tucked in an alcove, and one in the kitchen - well away from food/water, it’s a big room - because she sleeps in there overnight. She actually last used a tray at the end of last year when we had snow, but usually we are out in the day at work so they are there if she ever needs them.

Ours is in the big open plan room - it has to be as she gets shut in there at night. We tuck it under the sideboard in the daytime, as she always pees/poos outside in the day, and then pull it out at night.

Small house and open plan downstairs so we put ours in an outdoor plastic storage box (it's a huge garden storage box thing) with a catflap from inside the house directly into the storage box.

We have one in the main bathroom, we have one in the living area in a litter tray cupboard. As she is raw fed you genuinely cannot smell her poo unless you get close and have a good sniff.

We’ve got one in the utility and one in the bathroom. Both cats are free to roam from 7am until 9pm (we keep them in at night) but given the number of poos and wees I’m almost certain they never do them outside...
They aren’t bothered by company whilst shitting. Neither are we.

Mine is in the main bathroom. It's tucked under the bottom of the vanity unit so blends in well.

Mine have their litter trays in the attached garage. Two cat flaps in kitchen / utility door and utility / garage door

Large kitchen cupboard at the back so they have their privacy lol

Ours is in the kitchen, as it's the only place for it.

Dcat only poos when I'm busy in the kitchen either washing up, making sandwiches or cooking. EVERY SINGLE DAY!!
