Cat food timers

Our cat is locked in the downstairs overnight. She is fed before we go to bed then my OH feeds her usually when he gets up for work around 6am. On his days off, we would like perhaps a tiny lie in, however, as cats do, DCat is outraged that she is not fed at her usual time and sings the songs of her people until she has woken the whole house.

Does anyone use a cat food bowl with a timer on that they recommend? We could set it so she gets something to tide her over until we get up? In my head we would put some biscuits in for her and then reduce her breakfast amount by the biscuits, or maybe give her breakfast which is usually wet food instead of the biscuits she gets for lunch?

Don't have an answer, but watching with interest as I have the same problem. Cat1 has decided that sunrise (currently 4.30ish) is the correct time for breakfast. I disagree.

You could put biscuits and half a pouch for breakfast?.

We had the cat mate one that flips up but he learnt how to open it. You lift the lid with your claws and pull the tray out with your teeth.

I gave up lie ins, he’s gone now but I still get up at 6am 7 days a week.

I have the petmate double one and the Trixie double one. They are really easy to use. The five bowl one is really complicated so I don't use it.

@Fluffycloudland77 I thought wet food at first but didn't know if it would keep as we are obviously loading the bowl before we go to bed

I used to put wet in mine. I’ve seen a cat eat a dead mouse de-skinned by ants and with ants crawling all over it.

Their not as fussy as they should be 🤔

@Fluffycloudland77 😂😂 you obviously haven't met Miss Lick-the-jelly-off-the-food-and-leave-the-chunks. I've ordered a cheap timer one so will see how it goes!

Ours comes with a removable cool block hidden underneath so you can leave wet food in it.

We have the cat mate one and the timer is on a dial which is fine but doesn’t allow a massive amount of accuracy. So if we accidentally set it slightly off/later then DCat will come and let me know her timer hasn’t gone off yet by standing on my head.

I used a timer once o my 2 cats disgust. They realised there was food in it that they couldn't access, so one of them appears to have got hold of a crowbar while the other acted as lookout, and within minutes they'd taken the entire contraption apart and eaten all the food - it was supposed to be for the entire day!

Now I just leave out extra dry food...

If they eat the jelly but leave the chunks sometimes that means the meat isn’t very nice.

Ours did it with whiskas.
