Cat is obsessed with soothers

Confused

Of all the things to get obsessive about, soothers is her favourite.

If I have any near by, she will attack the packaging until one is loose, then will bat around the sweet in its wrapper until the wrapper is off. She will then bat around the sweet before getting bored and repeating the whole procedure again.

Weirdo cat. I have to make sure they are hidden in a drawer if I have them

That is pretty weird!

My cats once stole a bag of prunes. They ripped it open and hid them under the spare bed, no idea why.

It was particularly horrible finding sticky, fluffy things when I hoovered, thought they were dead mice so quite relieved but confused when they were prunes.

Mine goes for straws/cableties/little wire bag ties.

She keeps a stash behind the settee....

The other has to monitor my toilet usage (just mine, doesn't bother with the kids or DP) - the moment I open the door he's up and following me in to watch, then jumps up on the seat to get the best view of the flush.

Cats are weird.

They've got valerian in which is similar to catnip to them I think.

We can't have those gel cushions for inside high heels, in the house. She WILL hunt them down. In the wardrobe, rob them out of the shoes. Play with them endlessly, chewing bits off until there's not much left then cry when you take them off her. I've never seen anything like it.

The late fatty loved the plastic covers that go on our thermometers at work. She would knock the bin over to get them out and play with them. I was amazed she had that much intelligence to work out where I put them. Cheddar likes them too.

One of ours is obsessed with cotton buds. She also loves a bin so she can have a good rummage around inside. We had to replace all our open waste paper baskets with bins that have lids.

I bought a gardening mag this week (wrong one that I bought earlier in the week, as I'd assumed I bought the '2 for1' Garden entry one).

One of the cats loves running around the house with the packets of veg seeds!

One loves a bath, only with adults (she's not stupid enough to brave the dcs). She patrols around the edge while it fills to her satisfaction, occasionally testing temperature by paw under tap. When she thinks it's full enough she will cry until you turn it off (doesn't matter if you think there should be more, anyone would think this bath was for you not her). Then once human subject servant is in and arranged appropriately she will climb down onto their chest and dip each paw in turn only up to knee height, all 4. Then she will retire to the edge to watch reproachfully making sure you wash correctly, once plug is pulled flop in bottom of damp bath for at least 10 minutes Confused

Plays for hours with the ripped off top of a food pouch.

When I'm on the toilet he jumps in the bath and insists on a peek a boo game.

Stays at the bottom of the stairs for "the game" I go upstairs and peek around a little wall at the top of the stairs then he sneaks up, stops when I peek again, runs up a bit more then jumps out and I've got to squeal.

I've also got to squeal when he plays pouncings too otherwise he'll attack my slippers.

Love this. My cat is annoyingly fickle. She's 19 so I'll forgive her but she's currently into chewing my hair tie spiral thing - while it is in my hair. From the back of the sofa ...I go to stroke her and she bites me.

When I first read the title of this thread, I thought you meant soothers, as in dummies. I was looking forward to pics of cats with dummies in their mouths.

Soubriquet · 21/03/2020 11:47

I used to have a puppy who loved a dummy. She would sit there with the dummy in her mouth. Not even chewing it. Just sitting there

I've had some odd cats over the years. One used to get high on the smell of the ink they used on the Radio Times, it was like catnip to her. She also liked eating still-frozen peas. Another was obsessed with onion bhajis and wouldn't leave us alone if we ever had an Indian takeaway. Another loathed the recorder and would attack my dc whenever they tried to play it. The current incumbent likes sleeping with her head pressed up against the wall.

Ern loves tie wraps, not too big or too small. He will carry them around the house then play with them. Also the plastic ring pull out of DS's soya milk. We found about half a dozen behind the tv once

@Soubriquet I've got to agree with you there Grin

The way she did it was sneaky. She'd casually creep up to sit beside the recorder-player, casually stretch out a paw, wrap it round the player's arm like a shepherd's crook, pull your arm towards her... and it was at that point you would realise that she had her mouth open and fangs bared Shock

I used to have one who liked to be swung in the duvet. Silly sods that me and DP were, we used to pick up two corners each and swing the duvet with DCat lying in the middle. When our arms ached and we put it down he would miaow pitifully until we picked it up and did it again, stupid pair. 😹
