Cat telling me baby is coming?

This is a weird one.

DCat is usually quite independent and likes to do her own thing.

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and have been told I'm at risk of early labour due to my own health.

The past two days DCat hasn't left my side and is sitting purring on my bump at any opportunity. She's usually DHs lap cat if anybodies.

Does she know something I don't?
She's nudging my hand for fuss when usually there's only so much stroking she'll tolerate before sinking her teeth in!

No idea, sorry. But it sounds adorable!

How sweet! You'll have to come back and let us know if your cat was right!

Weird but the day before I went into labour my cat was attached to me. Kept pawing at me, sitting on me, meowing constantly. I remember thinking he was deranged as he usually tolerates me at best and suddenly he wouldn't leave me alone!

It's really strange! If I get up and walk away she's right behind me. Even to the loo!
I put my shopping away and she was sat on the side the whole time when usually she doesn't like the noise the bags make.

I wish there was more research into this kind of thing, makes me wonder if she knows because she's had babies herself before she came to us.

I've heard of people discovering they are pregnant because of the cats behaviour.

Blatant place marking for the update

Today I'm feeling really unwell and my sickness has returned so I'm staying in bed.
DCat is lying in bed with me gently stroking my face with her paw and has even refused to go outside to have a wee this morning.

DCat knows, they always do.
DCat here knows something weird is going on in the world and has become incredibly clingy.

I spent a lot of time on the sofa 'resting'. My girl cat would come and sit in my bump and when she purred DS would wake up and move around or kick. Cat was a bit perturbed when he kicked

Update!
Baby is now here safe and sound, DCat never left my side in the weeks before the birth, even scratched the carpet outside my bedroom door when she couldn't get in one night.

Baby is a few weeks old now and she has taken her place back on top of the sofa and hasn't been near us since.

She definitely knew Smile

Oh congratulations on your baby’s birth. Hope you are all doing well. That is amazing about your cat. I know there is a lot of research now about cats (and dogs) detecting illness because their sense of smell is so acute. Do you think your cat could detect your hormone changes?
