Blood in the litter tray

Just been out for Sunday tea. Come home and the scent in the house means the litter hey needs clearing.

Noticed loose stools this morning, however noticed tonight that there is blood in the stools. We have 2 8month old kittens... both looking and acting fine, eating and drinking, playing as usual. And ideas?

Obvs I'll ring vets in the morning...

It's probably nothing. It seems to be something that happens sometimes, and the blood is from an anal fissure or something similar isn't anything to worry about.

I would feed them just boiled chicken and rice for a couple of days to firm the stools a bit and see how it goes. By all means phone the vets for advice in the morning but, if it were me, I wouldn't be taking them in at this state.

Are they up to date on worming treatments?

Other than that, I agree with the other comments above - it just seems to happen sometimes and isn't a problem as long as it's not constant. However it can be caused by parasites which is why I wondered about deworming.

I've as yet held off worming as they are indoor cats, presumed it was something that needed doing if they were out with others???

Kittens need regular worming as worms pass in the mother's milk. But actually studies have shown that even indoor cats are exposed to worms and should be wormed regularly.
