The litter tray

Where's all the litter gone?

Apologies if this has been said before but where the hell is all the cat litter?
For months now the main supermarkets have been out of pretty much all of their litter. The only ones that can be found constantly is catsan and the cheapie ones. I'm in central Scotland, is this national or just us?

What's wrong with catsan?

Apart from getting stuck in the cat's foot pads and flicked here, there and everywhere!

Me and my mum both experiencing same problems. Constantly ran out of cat litter in every supermarket since before Xmas apart from catsan. Nothing wrong with the brand just hecka expensive!

I'm not a fan, I don't think it's as good with smells and it's more expensive. I loved Asda own brand antibac but I haven't been able to get my hands on it in ages.

I've found with home deliver no cat litter at all! Not even a substitute (when I've said any litter will do and been given a litter tray instead on 4 occasions) I moved to Amazon

I’m also in Scotland. We get World’s Best online, never had a problem with it so far.

Yup I posted about this recently - today finally managed to get 120kg of the stuff delivered after a saga where they lost the first batch Hmm

I have no idea what's going on!

Crap, meant to say - jollyes online was where I finally succeeded where even amazon and Fetch failed me (my fluffy idiots are fussy!)

I've just googled again and apparently Bob Martin have gone out of business and they supplied a lot of the supermarkets. Wonder what will happen next, will anyone take over?

Yes same here. In the north west. I think Catsan is very expensive, and flicks all over the place. We like the ones which clump, and find it's easier to remove from the litter tray. We used to get Asda's Smart price, £1.55 for 15.5 KG.
And its clumps. That hasn't been available a week or so before Christmas. Sorry but don't know why.
DH has just looked online, in the SUN (so it must be true!!)
It says that Bob Martin has gone bust.
Tesco Asda Sainburys and Morrisons all confirm supply issues.

Pettex seems readily available at the pet shop...

We are in Midlands and Morrisons has had none of any type on a couple of occasions
When I see any I have been buying 3 large 10kg bags at a time.

No one in my area seems to have anything that I like and more importantly the very annoying cats I have likes.

We are starting to buy in bulk if and when we see it

Very good point now you mention it, l had just assumed it was the shops near me. Saying that the Sainsburys was bare this afternoon but luckily had half a dozen bags of our type. I hadn't realised Bob Martin had gone out of business (fair enough, their flea stuff was shit!)

I get the big bags of Cat’s Best from zooplus - they deliver free over £35 & it’s easy to spend that much with cat food too. (Very good prices generally)

Also it’s a foreign company so less affected by UK supply issues presumably (though I worry what effect Brexit might have)

Been wondering this too - I'm in Yorkshire and have been struggling for months to get hold of it with my shopping deliveries.
Hadn't heard that Bob Martin had gone bust Sad

@GiantKitten yeah l rate Zooplus and get all of our cat food there. Good point, l might start getting my cat litter from them. Hopefully it will make my life easier

This says it’s being sorted out & supplies should be ok by the end of the month

(Who knew “pet business world” was a thing? Confused)

I have been able to get the non-clumping stuff but the clummping stuff is like gold dust
For those of you who get it delivered from places that are not supermarkets where do you get it from and can you get it delivered at a set time ?

Good, I hope this means their worm and flea products have disappeared as well.

I hated catsan. Horrible smelly stuff. Zooplus is good for litter and all sorts of other cat stuff

All we have here is the clumping stuff (south east)

I get the wood pellet litter from pets at home. 30 litres for £5.99 and it always seems to be available.

We order from Zooplus in bulk for cat sand and cat food. Works out much cheaper than the shops

We’ve been using tigerino nuggies cat sand. It’s little bits of clay I think and they clump together so well! It’s also scented which is a bonus!

Report
Sparklingbrook · 17/01/2020 05:47

I have noticed the same. But I use Catsan and really like it. I get through much less of it than anything else we’ve tried.
