The litter tray

How often do you change catsan cat litter?

It's what we're currently using and its the non clumping kind incase they decide to have a taste. I feel like we are going through it so quickly and I dont know whether we're changing it too much? Poops come out more or less immediately and pee the same day, some times two or 3 times a day depending on how often they pee.

Every time they use the tray surely?

Yep thats what i do. Just read people saying they leave it a couple of days and that didn't sound right. They just peed so much! And when I'm at work I obviously won't be here to empty it. My old cat only peed in the morning and evening.

I wouldnt change it every time the use it. I have three trays each with different litter in 🤔

The expensive worlds best gets changed once a month but all clumps removed as an when.

The catsan weekly and again poos get thrown out when they are dropped.

The tigerino baby powder clumping i havent decided yet. It clumps beautifully and they are removed first thing in the morning and last and night. I wouldnt change the full thing as its £5 for a tiny bag and im sure it says 28 days.

Have you got more than one tray?

Changing for every wee? Really? I have a kitten who wees probably 10 times a day and poos about 3. If I changed it for every wee I'd be using a bag a day and with the cost of Catsan that would be bankruptcy.

I'm currently removing poo once or twice a day and changing the whole tray about every 2 to 3 days. Catsan really does absorb smells. It's worth the money but only because you can leave it a couple of days.

Catsan smells really quickly. I like clumping. Eco stuff is ok for kittens although mine have never tried to eat any of the litter we've tried. As catsan doesnt clump you can only really remove poo daily and the pee builds up for a few days before changing the whole tray

Sainsburys rip off Catsan really well and its much cheaper.

No I definitely changed it every time.

depending on the weather we might get a couple of days of of a tray...poo is scooped and joins the dog poo in the outside bin, and I might leave a single wee in a tray but one of my cats is very picky and likes a selection of fresh trays to choose from

we have three or four trays on the go depending who last changed them and who's going to be home. DH and I monitor the trays more closely, ds tend to ignore them for a couple of days

We have 3 trays between the 2 of them. They mainly just use 2 though.

I had used a bag of Asda litter which seemed like Catsan but it seemed to clum (despite being clump free) so while easier to empty they have been playing with the litter and so i dont want to risk it.

We empty their poops more or less as soon as they do it. But I definitely cant afford to be emptying the tray each time they pee. I'm not getting rid of the whole tray full, just the bit that's been peed in.

I'll give leaving it a day or so a go and see how we get on. One of them has taken to peeing on the bed. Shes not allowed in the bedroom now but i dont want to cause further problems if it's an unclean box she doesnt like.

I found that Catsan reeks. Have switched to Biokat clumping it's infinitely better.

I eventually want to move to wooden pellets as i much prefer them. But because they're so little i worried the pellets might hurt their wee feet. Am i being neurotic lol!!

Yes a bit. Why not mix some in to start with and gradually increase amounts

I hate Catsan as it stinks! We use Cats Best litter at home-pee clumps into a ball and can easily be scooped out so no need to clean daily at all. Odour is a lot less too. One downside is bits of litter can get stuck in paw pads and leave a trail but I think Catsan does too. The wood pellets (unfragranced) are also good but don't clump so you need to scoop more out.

Cats best smart pellets dont track as much

We have mats under their boxes and it seems pretty good at stopping tracking.
Ill be mixing pellets in eventually but only had them a week so don't want to upset them etc. I'm planning on using a sifter for the pellets so not concerned it doesn't clump. I used pellets for my old cat.

Can I ask people with several litter trays, where do you put them? I only have one in the walk in cupboard off the kitchen at present. My house isn't huge and I'm not sure where to put more.

I swapped to worlds best from cats best as it seems to track less. Just scoop the clumps and I leave the rest in. He has a really thick layer so the bottom bit never even gets touched really

For us we have 2 in the bathroom and one in whatever room they are in with us. We move one around purely because our girl "forgets" to go to her box so we have to keep plonking her in.

LadyJaneGrey56 we have 2 in our bathroom which isn't ideal as the bathroom is small but its the room closest to where they sleep. Then the 3rd is in whatever room we're in as our girl "forgets" to go to the toilet so we need to keep plonking her in it.

I hate Cats Best and can't wait for this bag to be finished so we can go back to Felipure. The bloody stuff tracks everywhere!

I use World's Best and just take out the poo and wee balls as and when, so it lasts absolutely ages before a full change of litter is needed. And if the cats try eating it, doesn't matter - they can, it's made of edible stuff.

The cats best smart pellets dont track as badly as the oko plus.
