The litter tray

Good canned cat food brands?

I'm currently feeding our Maine Coon on Animonda Carny (from Zooplus). He'll eat it when particularly hungry, but I suspect he prefers food from the neighbours... I need to buy more food, so I'm going to try Bozita (also from Zooplus) – but does anyone on here have experience with other types of canned foods? I'm trying to avoid pouches/trays, as they're usually more expensive, and I assume cans are better for the environment.

I'm trying our cat on canned food for the recyclable packaging.
Apart from the sardine, he seems to love Cosma original (be aware though that it's only the tuna which is complete, the others are complementary cat foods). He also liked the one tin of Applaws I tried (ocean fish, also not complete) and he LOVED the Lily's Kitchen organic chicken dinner last night - he even ate the carrots Grin, which is a complete cat food.

The canned Bozita is really popular with my lot, more so than other canned options from there. They also liked Wild Freedom.
Although they love the Cosma fish varieties, as the pp says, only tuna is complete and I have some reservations about feeding too much fish anyway...

I tried a variety of fancy foreign food for mine, including Bozita in the cartons, but all were eaten very reluctantly. Their absolute favourite is bog standard Felix fish pouches - the buggers don’t even like the apparently identical tins of Felix (which I was hoping would be ok for recycling purposes).

However we now have a Terracycle facility in town which takes the pouches, yay! So we’re all happy.

(The bog-standard pouches are usually around £10 for 40, which is cheap enough for me Smile)

Have a look here to see if there’s a Terracycle drop-off near you

Thanks @MyMumTracyBeaker – he does have dry food as well (which he much prefers Grin) but actually, on checking this, it doesn't have taurine in it. I do wish cat food wasn't so complicated: when I grew up it was just a tin of Whiskas, job done!

Excellent tip re Terracycle: there IS one near us! So I can consider pouches (MC loves James Wellbeloved...).

Thanks also for the tip re Wild Freedom, I think we might have tried this one when MC was still having kitten food, so might give the adult version a go.

I buy my cat mainly the Leonardo brand which is made in Germany but available from Zooplus in the UK. My cat loves the food and I find the ingredient listing quite helpful as it lists what parts of any given animal was used:
Pure Chicken:
Chicken [meat, heart, liver, gizzard] (70%), chicken stock (28.8%), dried egg shell (0.5%), minerals (0.5%), salmon oil (0.2%).

Talking of zooplus - if no deal does happen Shock I wonder what tariffs will be on pet food shipped from Germany?

Butchers Classic. It doesn't have nasty additives and is cereal free and all our vets have recommended it. It also seems good for not causing diahrroea (I really should learn to spell that word). It's also cheap.

My cat is extremely fussy with wet food. However, the one she consistently loves is Applaws. It's not a complete food, but she eats a grain-free, high meat dry food most of the day, and has 1 tin of Applaws in the evening. She loves it so much if anyone goes in the kitchen from about 5pm onwards she follows them in expectantly, and miaows furiously when she sees the tin being opened. I've tried about 8 different flavours and she loves them all!
