Help - kitten has a stitch sticking out from spay incision

Hey - had my 5 month old kitten spayed 12 days ago and just noticed she has what looks like a stitch sticking out of the incision site. The wound was glued closed and is mostly healed - it doesn't seem to be bothering her but have stuck the cone back on for now (only took it off two days ago!)

Is this something that can wait until vet opens or do I call out of hours? from quick look on google it seems this is quite common?

It's not common but not totally unusual either, one of my foster cats had this. Sometimes they just seem to work their way out. As the wound looks fine otherwise, and assuming there have been no issues with healing so far (did you have a post-op check?) I'd leave it until Monday. Watch for any signs of redness, swelling, any liquid/bleeding from it and general signs of her being unwell though.

Don't worry. Stitches are dissolving ones. It will disappear in time. Of course you can call the vet next week to discuss but it isn't an emergency.

Bother of my kittens had this. They just pulled them out themselves!

@HannaSong

Don’t panic!
It’s totally fine. The incision has healed but the knot from her internal sutures has worked itself free. Just take some small scissors, hold the knot in one hand and snip the suture off close the skin but take care not to accidentally snip kitty. You can’t do any damage - the suture is no longer functional so removing it is best as it may irritate her. Once that’s done she shouldn’t need her cone.

Thanks everyone. I snipped it and she's happy to have cone off again :)

Will keep an eye on it but all seems okay
