I have a beautiful baby girl cat, she's not quite 2 yet. She has single pawedly got me through the last year or so of MH issues just be being the best and most loving cat I've ever known. I love her more than most people.

She came in about 9pm last night and was a bit quiet and off her food. Came down this morning and she went to jump on the windowsill but couldn't get up, she then collapsed and couldn't walk and was trying to crawl away from me but couldn't get up.

I rushed her to the emergency vets, by which time she could walk again but seemed really dazed and confused. Normally at the vets she is constantly trying to climb up onto me and hide but she just laid on the table with her eyes half closed.

They have kept her in for observation and tests.

Please please keep everything crossed that she is going to be ok. I really don't think I could cope with losing her.

That's absolutely wonderful news. Good luck with the diet!

Brilliant update!

Well done Ivy! I'm so pleased.

Final blood tests done and have all come back normal again smile just a urine test left to do to check there is no protein in there and then she will be signed off from treatment!!

The "operation feed up Ivycat" seems to have gone a bit far though as she has gained a kilo in a month which is a hell of a lot for a very small cat blush so she is on a diet for a little while...

That's brilliant news ☺️👍🐱

That should have read 'don't go' blush

Great update - its so nice to read such a good outcome from you being so worried at the outset.

YetAnotherSpartacus Sun 18-Aug-19 12:37:36

Gorgeous girl Ivy! You keep well and do go giving your human Mummy more scares!

MustardScreams Sun 18-Aug-19 11:43:42

Oh op I’ve just read the whole thread and your beautiful Ivy cat is such an amazing little thing. I could read the desperation in your first post, and I am so glad she’s pulled through and fighting fit. Fingers crossed her next results are positive and she’s back to full health. Lovely thread!

cricketmum84 Sun 18-Aug-19 11:29:56

@YetAnotherSpartacus just for you smile

YetAnotherSpartacus Sun 18-Aug-19 11:05:27

YAY!!! Lovely news! Thank you for sharing, although your lack of photos is a negative brownie point.

Good news from the check up yesterday.

All kidney levels are now within normal ranges. They were really happy with how she looks and her weight gain.

One more blood test in a month and if still all ok she can be taken off treatment smile and life expectancy is the same as any other cat!!!

The vets are really really shocked at her recovery. When you think just how close we came to losing her.

She's back to climbing the flipping curtains again too!!!! Highly annoying but also lovely to see her back to normal!!

mummymayhem18 Thu 08-Aug-19 22:24:12

That's brilliant news 🐱👍☺️ x

Mia184 Thu 08-Aug-19 15:41:07

Fantastic news! I hope the levels stay low.

Toddlerteaplease Thu 08-Aug-19 15:31:18

That's brilliant news. So pleased for you!

cricketmum84 Thu 08-Aug-19 14:27:19

@emmac98 she's doing really well thank you!

Last blood tests showed normal levels for all but one kidney marker. She's got a check up and another blood test due next month just to make sure the levels are staying low.

She's eating and drinking really well and tolerating the kidney care food, she's even put some weight on and doesn't look as much like ET anymore with the skinny neck smile

How's your cat op? My mn won't load so I can't read many!? Sorry if it's already been ended but I'd love to know how she is

I came across this thread at the start & got a bit sad so I'm delighted to hear the good news!!!!
If she's still being fussy on the special food think about trying her on Kattovit Renal tins (not pouches) - I've got a cat on their urinary ones and he's mega-happy eating it but turned down all the other versions (and thinks that any of the pouches with the lumps that look like cheap reconstituted chicken nuggets without the coating are the food of the devil - I agree, they look hideous). I add a bit of water on the side of each bowlful to up his water intake.

mummymayhem18 Fri 19-Jul-19 18:23:25

Aww that's brilliant news. Only just came across this post and read all of the updates. I have 2 cats and know how much they can pull on your heart strings and become members of the family. I hope she keeps on the way she's been going. She's got a lovely caring owner. ❤️☺️

Cherrycee Fri 19-Jul-19 18:10:13

Brilliant news, you must be thrilled. I'm sure she'll have a much better prognosis now. Goes to show that every cat reacts differently where kidney problems are concerned.

Vet should be keeping an eye on her weight and diet now. If she has recovered from an acute illness, rather than having chronic kidney disease, she shouldn't need the renal food indefinitely. In fact it wouldn't do her any good long-term in those circumstances. But I'm sure the vet will be monitoring her over the next few weeks/months.

Wolfiefan Fri 19-Jul-19 17:52:30

Fantastic news.

PenguinsRabbits Fri 19-Jul-19 17:48:22

That's brilliant news. Sounds like she just used up one of her 9 lives and is back on life 2 in full health! Hopefully this means she will live to old age now. Very happy for you both.
