We put our 10-month kitten in a cattery for three days a little while ago. It seems a nice place, they obey strict hygiene rules (no visitors around the chalets), have sneeze guards, send pics of him to us during his stay etc.
We're considering putting him back in there over Christmas, when we're away for 3 weeks. However, I'm bothered about two things:
- the chalets are really small - like, the size of a toilet cubicle, and have no outdoor area. He's a super active cat; will he mind being cooped up in such a tiny place?
- when we brought him back last time he peed in his carrier. He's never done that before or since (even coming back from the vet), and I don't know if it was just because he needed to go, or because he was stressed from the cattery.
What do you think? Am I just being a helicopter cat-owner, or should we look into other catteries for Christmas?
