I need a handhold- cat badly injured

Today is my birthday. We went out for a few hours, came home to find our cat under the bush at the front. He came out so can walk but his face is ripped to pieces, his eye is badly injured, he was clicking and breathing very strangely. The poor little thing absolutely stunk of blood. He was still purring when we stroked him. My dh and mil have taken him to the emergency vets- but I think it will be the worst :( I'm alone with my toddler and baby and can't stop crying, poor, poor little thing :(

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that OP SadFlowers

Hopefully it's better than it looks?

My thoughts are with you. What's his name?

Oh what a shame. It might not be the worst. My son found our cat in a similar state and he ended up having face reconstruction. He lost an eye and had his jaw reset. He is still around now. It was very stressful as he had to be tube fed, I took 2 weeks from work to sleep with him in the spare bedroom, but he made it. I hope your little kitty does too. Do let us know xx

Oh you poor things. That must have been a shock.
Deep breaths, and fingers crossed. He got himself home. He recognised you. He purred. You've go him to the vets really quickly. With a bit of luck they can fix him up. Cats are pretty amazing in what they can pull through.

His name is Dobby, he's not even a year old yet :(
Just the way he was breathing and how he was literally clicking didn't look good.
A fox or another cat, possibly even hit by a car. I have rabbits in the garden but I am afraid to check them in case a Fox has come round.. I know I need to go and give them their heat pad and change their water so I'm going to have to, but after the state of the cat I'm worried a hungry fox may have managed to rip into the hutch or run.

Oh no Sad Poor little thing.

I hope the vet can put him right. They can work miracles, and cats are such tough, stoic little creatures, it's amazing what they can pull through from, and subsequently go on to thrive. Will keep all fingers and toes crossed for you and your dear cat.

I'm so sorry LLOE7. At least you found him and I'm sure he's comforted by that. Crossed fingers. You've done all you can and been the best owner you can be, I completely understand. Flowers handhold.

My cat suffered serious injury 4 years ago, major trauma involving multiple surgeries and prolonged hospital stay. He's fine now but still has to be rushed in for unrelated things, most recently yesterday morning at 5. He's fine now. Urinary tract issue, right as rain now but we were in bits.

All the best. X

Oh love Flowers. I hope for the best for dear Dobby if the rabbits aren't at risk leave them as you have already had such a horrible shock.

It does sound like a car. I'm so sorry, offering a hand-hold and will be listening out for further news with you

My little cat got injured a few months ago. She came home with her head all scratched and bruised and her tongue hanging out.
She had a broken jaw. The vet did an amazing job wiring it together and we had a few worrying weeks trying to get her to eat but now you'd never even know it happened.
Fingers crossed for you.

That's a lovely name.

Go and check your bunnies. I'm sure they'll be fine, but it will put your mind at rest and they'll be needing all the heat that they can get tonight.

It's a good sign that he got himself home I think.

Hope he's ok.

Waiting with you OP and hoping Dobby pulls through.
A cat I had as a child was hit by a car and lost an eye, but he recovered pretty quickly.

Just read your update! Hurray for Dobby! What a strong boy. I bet you can't wait to cuddle him.

He has antibiotics for his eye but it was responding well to tests so looks like it is okay, what a relief! I am shocked he is okay after how awful he looked and how he stunk of blood, poor little thing. It's going to be hard to let him outside now but would be cruel to keep him in.
