The litter tray

Kitten has runny poo

We brought home two kittens at the weekend (littermates) One of them has settled in fantastically. The other, not so much. He seems to be eating fine and is running about playing etc but he is still afraid of us. He doesn’t like it when we are near him and will run and hide if we happen to walk past him.

Today, I noticed that one of them had gone to the litterbox and left a small runny poo with some blood in. I didn’t know who it was so I waited until the next one went to the litter tray to check their poo (the things we do!) and I noticed it was the kitten who is having issues settling in that is having the diarrhoea. He has been to the litter tray again just now and had more diarrhoea.

We are giving them the same food that they’ve always had with their breeder and previous owner. I’m concerned that he might have a tummy bug/parasites. He seems his usual self (playing but also not running off if we move near him). What does it sound like this could be? Should I keep an eye on him and if he’s not better in a few days, take him to the vets or should I just take him to the vets asap? Could it just be the stress of moving and trying to settle into a new home?

I’m no vet but I’d perhaps be ringing one as kittens with diarrhoea can dehydrate very quickly. It could be stress but best to check. Out of hours vets are normally v happy to give advice over the phone.

The blood would worry me. Like tronk I am not a vet but I think you should get this checked out.

Have they been to the vet yet. In my kittens first few weeks with , we were there three times for vaccinations etc.

It was reassuring to get weight and health checks.
