Cat won’t come back

I had 3 female cats (mother and 2 kittens), the kittens are 4yrs now and I’ve never split them up

One of them was hit by a car over a week ago and passed away

Now the other sibling won’t come back into the house, she refuses the cat flap and so I leave a window open all day so that she’ll run in for food when noone is around but for safety purposes close it at night

I have a cat flap but she refuses to use it, I feel like this is how she’s grieving but I hate her being outside all night in the cold and rain

I can’t catch her as she runs off if anyone gets near and was skittish to begin with Sad Has anyone experienced similar? I’m at a loss do I just let her start sleeping outside?

I'm so sorry. Have absolutely no advice because have house cat but didn't want to read without acknowledging your grief. X

I'm so sorry about the loss of your cat. It's so sad.

Over the years I've had a few bereaved cats, sadly, and they all express their grief in different ways.

It might be that she's waiting outside in the hope that her sister will come back, or simply the trauma has upset her so much that her usual routines and habits are disrupted.

How about making a wee house or cat kennel outside for her, so that she has somewhere cosy to sleep? Hopefully, over time she'll feel more secure and come back in the house.

Flowers for you and hugs for the cats.

So sorry. What a very sad time for you. What Seeing says. Could you tempt her in with some treats? Is her mum ok? Flowers
