Post-holiday behaviour

Just wondering how other cats respond to their humans returning after a holiday. My old childhood cat used to give us 'the silent treatment' for a day or two.

However, since picking my current 18 month old dcat up from the cattery on Sunday she has been unusually attentive to me and dh. She has also been keeping a close eye on our whereabouts at home. Although she pops out she returns soon after to see where everyone is.

Before we went away for the week she was fairly aloof and didn't really allow too much petting. Since we got back she has actively seeks---- attention especially at 4am. Although that isn't unusual for her.

She has also lost quite a bit of weight. I suspect due to the hot weather. I really hope it's not due to stress from being left. She didn't cope at all well during the 10 minute ride to the cattery.

Yes Ernie was so loving last year we said he should go every few months.

This time he came back he started kneading which he hadn't done before

I'm more used to the cold shoulder treatment from my previous dcat. However it's nice to know that little miss aloof loves us really. smile
I guess if she gave us the silent treatment it wouldn't be as noticeable. They're interesting creatures, aren't they?

Op I fear your dcat is plotting to gouge your eyes out at the first opportunity!!
Not mine but a family friend's cat Leroy used to go poo at her feet if she was late from work!!
I cat sat while she holidayed and he was a very vocal boy!!

Funny you should say that @Aprilshowersinaugust she pooed in her cat box on her way to and from the cattery. I had put it down to her being nervous but perhaps there was also an element of revenge in it too shock

We've been back for 24 hours. (We only adopted her 8 months ago and thought cattery might be confusing so hired cat-sitter to visit twice a day).

I thought I'd be punished, but instead she is following me around (usually independent) and insists on being in the same room as me at all times. She sat outside the bathroom and waited while I had my shower.

That's sweet @TheThirdOfHerName. She's not letting you out of her sight.

It's funny how cat owners expect to be 'punished' when they return home from holidays.

Ashycat is usually all over me like a rash.... but that's no different from usual.

One time I came home from a weekend away and she sat at my feet and pooed on the floor. The little tail waggle said "sorry I'm not sorry".
