Hi Pink! DC is fine thanks! Still grumpy in the heat but I think he's getting used to it a bit now. And next month is a whole year since his last high cost insurance pounding disaster, so I might have a little celebration 🎉 (touches wood).

How's Harry doing? Haven't seen any updates in a little while. Tom says hi Harry!

I'm glad he's doing well! Harry is also struggling in the heat, he can't walk from the end of our very small garden to the house without collapsing for a rest!

I'm keeping everything crossed DC's luck continues! March was the last one for us (the heart disease that wasn't) so I'm hoping he can actually go until next June, when he has his jabs, without any more visits to the vet! Touching wood, Harry seems to be doing ok at the moment so long may it continue for both of them!

Any chance of a picture of DC?

Oh bless him. Is he eating ok? That's great news if he gets to next June with no dramas! Is he taking it easy? I think all of the local cats are struggling. Apparently the heatwave could last till October

Here's the little stinker. Any recent pics of harry?

Note the ice pack on the bedroom floor. If he's being snuggly an ice pack is required in this weather.

We've been a bit more relaxed about his food in the hot weather and we're letting him have biscuits instead of wet. It's not ideal as it means he's not getting his kidney meds but I'm more concerned that he eats.

DC is gorgeous! This is one of the better ones of Harry last night - at least he doesn't look as though he's plotting to kill me (see post titled Should I be worried?)!

Aw hello Harry! How does he always manage to look like such a gentleman? He's looking very well. Yeah, it's hard to get them to eat in this heat isn't it. Better than nothing though. So you can't sneak his meds into kitten milk or anything?

DC is the same, he'd live on biscuits if we let him. He's just come in, ignored his bowl of wet food and is sitting at his biscuit tree with a sad face on.

Sad news about Fatty isn't it. Makes you treasure the time you get with them. ❤️

Looks can be deceiving! I tried him on kitten milk once and you should have seen the look on his face! It's supposed to be cooler from tomorrow so I'll try and get him back on wet twice a day then.

He has a biscuit tree?

It's awful. They break our hearts but I can't imagine life without them.

He loves it. It's like kerplunk with dreamies.

Is there no liquid he likes? They are bothersome aren't they! I wish you could just tell them that this medicine is to keep you alive so just take it! Does he seem ok without having had his doses?

Yeah, I'd be devastated tonight if it was DC. But we can only do our best for the relatively short time we had them, and she certainly did her best to give Fatty an awesome life. I wish cats lived as long as humans.

I can't see Harry wanting to work for his biscuits, he's a lazy sod! He won't eat Dreamies either...

There's very little he does like to be honest. His diet consists of Natures Menu chicken and goose pouches and James Wellbeloved turkey or duck biscuits with the occasional treat of tuna. Not a very exciting life but he turns up his nose at everything else! He doesn't seem any different, but then he didn't have any symptoms of kidney disease before, we only found out by accident.

I'm pleased that Fatty and Snorg found such a lovely owner after their awful start in life, they couldn't have asked for better.

I sometimes look at Harry and think I can't imagine him not being there. When we were told he had heart disease I was devastated and I think the poor vet who did the scan and told us he was fine thought I was going to kiss him!

My, he's a very discerning boy isn't he! Has the temperature dropped where you are today? I'm sure you said before you can't force his medicine down either? You'd never know he has been so poorly from his photos, his coat looks lovely.

DC has just come in wanting wet food plus biscuits! Hooray! I must admit I do try and keep him a bit chunky since his previous incidents. If he's going to go missing for any significant period now I'd rather he had some fat to live off. I clearly haven't forgiven him/gotten over my paranoia.

The purple thing is another puzzle feeder that is supposed to make him eat slower, but he just flips it over. We've had to tape his tree to the floor or he just headbutts it over to knock all the biscuits out.

It’s quite bit cooler here thankfully and he seems happy to eat his wet food again so he’s back on his drugs! We can’t force anything down him as his jaw is still unstable and we’d be too worried about damaging it.

His coat is in lovely condition even if I am a bit biased!

I like DC’s style, just bulldoze his way to the food!

He found himself a new hiding place this morning!

Oh of course, his dicky jaw. Does that cause him problems these days?

I don't suppose you can trick him by mixing tuna juice with meds then trickling on biscuits? I bet he'd figure you out and refuse them, they're clever little buggers.

In the end when DC was on his infection drugs we had to just headlock him and get the pills down, no amount of crushing them up in melted butter or mince would fool him. We even cut biscuits in half, put crushed up pills in the centre and then squished the biscuits back together but he knew our game and turned his nose up.

He's very adorable. Do you think he knows he's hiding behind his own photo?

Sometimes he refuses his biscuits and I think it could be because his jaw aches but he's usually fine within a day or so. We just keep an eye on him now rather than take him to the vets.

I think he'd see through that! I managed to hide some in a bowl of tuna the other day and he was happy with that.

We did try syringing liquid meds straight into his jaw once. I held him, DH armed himself with the syringe and smugly announced there was a gap where Harry had his teeth out so he'd go for that. What he'd forgotten was there's also a gap the other side and he shot the meds straight through the other side and all over me!

I wouldn't put it past him to pose by his own picture!
