I have posted about this on a thread, but think it's important enough to warrant a thread of its own.
Most of us are pretty good these days at getting our cats microchipped and arranging for stray cats who find us to be scanned for microchips. But do we always remember to keep the registered details up to date if we move house, change phone numbers or rehome a cat elsewhere?
Recently we took an injured stray to our vet. Luckily she was microchipped, the owner was telephoned and I was able to take the cat back to her home. However the vet was dealing with another stray who was also microchipped but the contact details were out of date and so the owner could not be contacted. Such a shame.
I know that some owners simply don't care that much, or deliberately move and leave a cat behind. For the majority of us though, I think it's a genuine oversight and we'd be devastated if we couldn't be reunited with our cats because of it.
So just a reminder to
