Hi wise people I need some practical advice my 4 month old mc has gone missing I have done all the usual things, contacted vets, searched local area and spoken to neighbours.

I am about to print up some leaflets to pop through doors, any practical advice she is not chipped as was due to be chipped and spayed next month. She has been missing since about 5am. I'm going out of my mind.

Is she used to going out or escaped ?
Are you sure she is not in the house. Look in wardrobes, airing cupboard, behind furniture, basically everywhere.

Sorry to hear that. My Maine coon when he was very young would sometimes disappear for 12 hours at a time and i’d Have to go out looking for him. Occasionally found him stuck in places that he’d climbed up (I once heard distant meowing and he was on my roof :-/)
He’s quite old now and doesn’t get up to any shenanigans anymore. I hope your little one is just out having a long play somewhere and you find her soon

Has she been spayed? If not, she's likely in her first season and gone off in search of a mate unfortunately...

How did she get out, at the back or front of the house?

Sorry I missed your line about not spayed yet... so yes, when they come into season they usually try to escape.

Put her litter tray and some bedding outside, the familiar smell may guide her back.

Thank you, I have put her litter tray In the back and a blanket at the front, I have spoken to people and leaflet dropped, just about to phone the rspca, I can't stand this she is so sweet but has no sense of being outside. I dread when it gets dark if we haven't found her. I feel like I have let her down.

No news sadly, I have put up posters but not said she is an mc or that she is not spayed.

So what happened was this, we keep her locked in our bedroom overnight as we have an older moggie who has the run off the house and can go in/out of catflap. However my DH got up at 5 for the loo and he let her out, I asked if the cat flap was locked he said yes, he meant it was closed. Never has she tried to use the cat flap we are always so careful.

I am beyond gutted. I don't think we will see her again she is so gorgeous. My DH seems to think 2am is a good time to look!! He read it apparently, we have a lot of building work around here and the builders have been fab helping us but she could be anywhere. 😭

Its probably the quietest time to look. Have you emptied the vacum cleaner outside?

So sad :-(
I once had a little black moggy kitten ten years ago that escaped and we never saw her again. I was devesated imagining what might have happened to her, but hopefully someone nice just took her in and kept her.

Is she 100% not In the house still? I’m sure you have looked absolutely everywhere though and would have heard her by now. Was just remembering a time my mum’s kitten got shut in a cupboard for a day and we couldn’t find her.

Also had a friend whose cat went into a neighbour’s open window and they then went away for 2 nights and shut her in without realising. My friend had to pay for a cleaner as the cat had pissed and shit all over their carpets

Sorry to hear she's missing. I found our missing cat recently by recording us calling him on my phone and playing it for hours and hours on a blue tooth speaker at the end of our garden. I also cut up the towel he slept on and hung that all over our garden. Best of luck x

Any sign of her @rupertpenryswife?

You must be frantic by this time of night. Not sure what time it is there. (I'm in NZ).

I'm sure she'll be found or turn up. Some great tips on here!

Oh you poor thing. When I got my darling little Tybalt, he was very skittish and there was no way I was going to let him out for ages. Long story, but he escaped and disappeared. I rang the cat rescue lady I got him from (horrible call to make!) and she came out and we went searching around the streets in the dark, knowing it was hopeless because there was no way he would have come to being called at that stage. She even went by herself through our local walkway in the middle of the night, which would have been bloody scary!

The next day our neighbour said she had caught sight of him running under her house, so mad cat lady (I'm one too :) ) brought out a humane trap and a tin of mackerel. We sprinkled the (very stinky!) mackerel and 'juice" in the trap, all around it and leading up to it. I waited and constantly checked and that night I heard it snap shut! I raced to look and my baby was inside! Something like that might be worth a try if she is not used to being outside and has taken shelter somewhere.

Another of our cats went missing overnight, which was very unlike him. He had been shut in a neighbour's shed overnight. One very surprised neighbour when she opened the door the next morning and this mad black thing tore out!

Another neighbour has the cutest, most friendly little cat. She would let anyone pick her up and take her. I think she's a Manx cat. She's quite unusual - and absolutely gorgeous. She went missing one day, neighbour was frantic, little puss turned up looking a bit dishevelled but otherwise fine - never said where she had been though. Smile

Don't give up hope. I'm sure she will turn up or be found.
