My cat went out last night and hasn't come home. I've posted on Facebook and walked the streets, shouting his name and waving treats about. I'm really upset and fretting. In going to go back out soon and have another look.

Oh dear, is it warm weather where you are, has he gone off before. I hope he is ok and comes home soon.

I think it is more likely that he is shut in somewhere. If he had been in an accident you probably would have heard something by now. I hope the pesky little thing comes home soon, it is worrying.

Hope he's home soon. This fine weather keeps them out much longer than normal.

Hope he’s home soon, I’m in the same position tonight. It’s horrible isn’t it.

When I was looking for missing WimpleCat once, I was advised by a shelter not to walk around too much calling, as they can start to come to you but not get there in time because you've moved on. Better to stand still and call for five minutes in one place, then move on to somewhere else and stand and call

Any luck gloopy did you see my post I have lost my kitten this morning so far I have pushed leaflets through doors, put up posters, phoned all the local vets and vet rescues/charity's. We have obviously searched around our area but no luck.

I'm sick with worry she is only 4 months. Good luck with finding your kitty.

Rupert I've just seen your message. I haven't figured out MN yet! I'm sorry your kitten got out. I know how you feel. I can't stop fretting. I've been out again today and asked neighbours and called to rescues in the area but no one has seen him. I'm gutted , and don't know what else to do.

I have posted leaflets through doors, put posters on lamp posts and in the co op I have informed all of the local vets, the rspca and the cat rescue near us. We will keep looking all night, I am so upset I can cope, my DH is out looking now whilst I look after the kids.

Claws and paws crossed we find our furry friends.

If they have used litter put it (the tray) outside, they can smell it from really far away so can help them get back home if they're disoriented. Hope both kitty's come back soon.

Oh I'm sorry gloopy yes my kitten came back at midnight last night. Here is what we did,

As soon as we knew she was missing we did the usual search around the area, I then Printed posters with a picture and leaflets to put through people's doors. I informed all 3 local vets, the RSPCA and local cats shelter she was missing. I also told my insurance to see what they could do (they would pay to advertise a reward and the value of your cat if not found. I posted on Facebook as did my vet practice so this was shared multiple times.

After putting up posters and posting leaflets within about a 3 block radius I joined pets reunited website who alert local vets and charity's with the details you upload, they also have volunteer searchers who get the info if they are local to you.
We went out at 2am as this is supposed to be when it's quietest and cats feel safe we called her and shook her food, we did this Monday and Tuesday throughout the day and evening.
Last night we made a last plea to people to check she'd and outbuildings after our final search I assumed we had lost her.
I put out a tin of pilchards, her bed and a litter tray, I taped the cat flap open, spread biscuits around our property and went to bed.
I was woken up at midnight by her jumping on my head.
Another good website is pets located.com, they put your cat on their site and match with cats from shelters all over the country, you do have to pay for this though. Good luck, how old is your cat? Is he chipped?

That's excellent news!!!! I'm so happy you got your kitty back! The vets near near hasn't and the rescue centre haven't heard anything. I think I will try shaking his food really really late in the back lanes.

No he isn't chipped. I re homed him when he was about 6 months. So I think he is 1 year and a month old. He was recently spayed and had all his injections ect, this was the next thing on my list for him.

Well it's good he is inoculated my kitten was not chipped either. Can you throw a load of biscuits around your outside area and get some really smelly tinned fish to place outside. I'm so sorry for you it's just heartbreaking when they are missing.

Do you have a catflap? If not how does he access the house? I think from what I have read you have a higher chance of getting adults back.
My neighbour was telling me her adult re home was gone for 9 days, she was the one who gave me the tinned fish as that's how she got her cat back. I am keeping everything crossed for you.

He'll be back, its normal for a cat to wander.
One of mine went for 10 days last year and the other went missing for a year. Its horrible when your cat does this but dont get too upset. The chances are hes fine.

Take heart, one of mine went missing for just over a fortnight. Looked everywhere, put leaflets through doors, kept hoping. It really hit me.

I hadn't given up as such but tried to get on normally. One Saturday morning I was hoovering upstairs and heard a strange noise-it was my cat, he'd come up the stairs to my feet miaowing that he was home.
Very thin, very happy. We reckoned he'd been locked in somewhere while someone had gone on holiday, in a shed or outbuilding.

They really are resourceful and resilient. Fingers crossed for you.

Cats come back, it’s what they do. They worry the life out of you in the meantime. Have you asked neighbours to check sheds, garages etc? When my last cat eventually came back, he smelled strongly of petrol, so think he might have been stuck/shut in somewhere. Agree with the silly oclock returns, four days is a worry, but not impossible for a kitty return, especially with warm, light nights and baby birds about...

The wanderer returns!!!! 😁 he came home last night at about 11.30. I'm so happy. He seems happy. I think he must of been shut in somewhere.

I'm glad he's home, get him chipped asap. I'm surprised it wasn't done when he was neutured. I always worried about my kitten wandering before he was chipped as my vets dont do it until they get 'done'
