New fosters about to arrive

I’m picking up my next set of foster cats this morning. A mum and two small kittens Grin. It has taken some time to catch them, they were living under somebody’s garden shed. One of the kittens is much smaller than the other, I’m not sure what that might mean. I will keep you posted.
Those of you who followed the Christmas foster thread will be pleased to know he is settling well with his new dad who is clearly very fond of him.

How exciting! Kittens from the same litter can have a different father so one could have been conceived a week later. Or maybe one is the runt... One of mine fosters from a litter of four was a lot smaller to start with and then he grew to be the biggest by 12 weeks!

It looks like the little one is the runt, she’s more like a three week old, he’s more like a four week old. He weighs almost twice as much as her. She has a few little problems: one eye is slightly crusty and it looks as though mum hasn’t been as good at keeping her clean, her back legs are a bit sore and so is her bottom. She is lively and alert so I think if we get her cleaned up she’ll be fine, mum is washing her a fair bit so hopefully she’ll get her sorted out. They need worming but otherwise mum and the big kitten are in great condition. Hard to get good pictures of three black cats, but here is the big kitten.

Teeny tiny cat fight. Little one is already looking better. I have loads of stuff to do today, in theory. The expensive food I bought to give mum a treat has been soundly rejected, she spat out her worm medicine, but she is still lovely and such a good mum.
This morning we’ve had micro pouncing as well as mini wrestling, it’s so much fun here.

Just been thinking about what this little mum has been through. At some point she was someone's pet, she's really friendly and loves a cuddle. They didn't neuter her and let her get pregnant. Then she had her babies under a shed, where it snowed when they were a week old. One of them died and without the help of the lady whose shed it was all of them probably would have. It makes me so angry that this little cat has been through all this when it is so easy to do the right thing and get cats neutered. There is a scheme here where it can be done for £5.

How precious.

It is sad OP, I often wonder why neutering isn’t a legal requirement.

One of ours was a pregnant stray. All the babies died as a vet missed the pregnancy unfortunately, and we had no idea she’d had them (to give them a safe space etc). I always feel sad when I remember what she has been through.

Hope there are some more pics to come Grin

That one kittens got quite an air about it. It is unbelievable that people still treat animals like this. There’s no empathy for them or sense of responsibility.

Beautiful cats. Mum looks like my (departed) old girl. It is awful how people treat animals as disposable items like that. Neutering is just common sense but sadly a lot of people don't get it.
At least they're being taken care of now.

Yes, I think he is going to be trouble. Lots of climbing with no plan of how to get down again at the moment. He also enjoys a vigorous dig in the litter tray but never covers anything. They are both eating solids now and scampering about. Here he is wondering how to get down from the scratching post.

How on earth can something that tiny (and cute and floofy) tip a litter tray over??? Shock

Mine are reasonably large cats, and Girlcat went through a phase of balancing on the edges of the litter tray to do her poos (don't ask!) and never tipped it over.

I don’t know exactly what happened over night but the contents of the little kitten sized litter tray had been distributed over the floor. Mum could have done it, I suppose. Vigorous digging could have done it as well, maybe. Anyway all three of them are adamant that it must have been an earthquake or a sudden gust of wind, and I believe them. They were obviously a big help when I was cleaning up as well. Smile. All perfectly peaceful now, until they wake up.

They are just beautiful. I am so envious and of course it was a storm that knocked over the tray..........................
