Sunscreen on pink noses?

Sorry the title sounds like a line from 'A few of my favourite things'.

If you live with a pink-nosed cat who goes outside:

-what sunscreen do you use?

-how do you get it on the cat's nose without them twisting away and running off?

-how do you stop them from licking the sunscreen off as soon as you've put it on?

I think my pink-nosed cat would at this idea. He's spent the last two days under his favourite bush not getting burnt.

We used to use kids sunscreen on our white cats ears. He wasn't impressed but tolerated it. He was very unimpressed with the purple stick.

My pink nosed girl spends the day indoors, splayed out on the tiles, as soon as there is any hint of sun.

I haven't heard of anyone doing this, it would get licked off in seconds. White ears are a different issue and should always be protected.

We adopted her from the NAWT last winter, and they advised using sunscreen on her nose on sunny/summer days to reduce the risk of cancer.

Today is day 2 that we've attempted to apply it.

It would seem that the dear departed Pepper was unusually tolerant, compared to other cats. It was never carnage although he didn't like it.

I didn't know people sunscreened cats but I suppose it makes sense!

I grew up in southern california & never heard of such a thing (we had white cats). They died of other things, not sunburn related!
