The litter tray

Arrgh! Stan is murdering the world's thickest mouse!

I KNOW it's what cats do but ugh - I looked outside and Stan was looming over this tiny mouse like Godzilla, ready to pounce. I couldn't bear it and grabbing the hose aimed a short, sharp spray at Stan who belted across the garden.

Shouting: 'Run mate!' to the mouse - I watched it scuttle off through a hole in the fence. But five minutes later I look outside and Stan is tossing said mouse up in the air like he just don't care. It's dead now and very chewed. -Refuses to accept that it could be another mouse-

I'll see your mouse and raise you a defenceless robin. I came back from the school run to find a heap of feathers blowing across my kitchen floor and the blasted cat eating the bird. He ate the lot apart from the wings.

We've been feeding the birds all winter and hoped they'd make it through to Spring. We'd even locked the cat flap so the murderous beasts couldn't go hunting during dawn and dusk.

Oh LongRider - it's so much worse with birds Sad Sad

I have two cats and sometimes they work together like those bastard velociraptors in Jurassic Park. Apparently you can get cat collars that resemble really bad scrunchies - that the birds can see. Might get a couple.

scrunchie collars

Oh, how sad. Haven't had a killing brought home for a couple of weeks now - she's too fat and lazy at the mo.

Poor mousey Sad Years ago one of my bastards brought a live mouse in and lost interest. I spent a week trying to capture the poor little thing; eventually managed to get it in a humane trap and took it outside at midnight to release it. 20 seconds after it made a dash for freedom, I saw a bat swoop in Shock

We’ve had two robins and lots of feathers this week. I don’t mind rats but cute birds Angry. They have bells on their collars so don’t know what else I can do.

Mine wouldn’t have a clue were to start. Thank god. My friends is the same and she has a huge garden with trees. Cats just not interested.

A couple of winters ago my bastard of a cat killed five robins in two weeks. Brought them in & left them on the doormat.

This week he killed the little wren that's been hopping in & out through the badly fitting cat flap in the cold weather. I found the poor little thing on the arm of the sofa.

Came home in 1996 and accidentally kicked cats water bowl in the corner of the kitchen cupboards. Looked down to see what I’d kicked. There in the bowl was a duckling - with only one leg left - swimming around. Buggered cat had bogged off and left it. Rang bird people who said it would be fine as they took it away. They said it would do a left left right paddle with its goid leg and remaining stump.

And then there was the time I walked across the carpet and felt a cold patch under my bare foot. Lifted my foot and found I was standing on a mouse head and the cold spot was it’s brain. I swear I felt that cold spot on my foot for a week!!

Gruesome beasts!

Our cats brought in a half alive bird last summer. It caused a lot of heartache with the DC and they even buried it with a funeral. They leave dead mice outside for us to find from time to time but nothing has been brought indoors for a while. I have a feeling the warmer weather might change that.

Worldsworst what is it about them leaving the HEAD like some despotic Tudor monarch? Stan left the mouse head right outside the door for me to tread on. Or maybe it was a canape he was saving for later. Grin

My bastard boycat caught a fieldfare at the weekend. They are such beautiful birds. I was not impressed. Then I discovered that the cold had killed most of the frogs in the pond and idiot girlcat was fishing the corpses out and bringing them inside!

Told both of them to go back to catching rats. Gah.
