Litter recomendations

Can anyone recommend a clumping eco friendly litter ?
My cats are on a wood pellet litter at the moment but I've found when they wee it spreads through out the whole tray and disintegrates the rest of the litter which then means i can't scoop out the soiled bits and have to replace the whole tray each day which isn't cost effective. Ive tried breeder select paper litter too but the elder cat does huge wees and changing the paper litter burned my nose and eyes the smell was that strong Envy there has to be a simpler solution

Oko cats best, it tracks which can be annoying but nothing else is anywhere close for longevity and not smelling so a small price to pay having to sweep up each morning and evening.

Does it clump up well ? Main problem been is the older cat does do some massive wees im talking at least half a cup of wee each time even though i never see her drinking Hmm we have 4 trays in total in different parts of the house for them to use so we get through a lot of litter each week

It clumps amazingly - needs to be very deep though. The wee turns into sort of snowballs Grin

It’s expensive & you have to put a lot in initially but it lasts for ages & IME ends up working out cheaper than cheap stuff.

I get the 40L bags from Zooplus (I have 3 litter boxes)

I find Sainsbury’s Clumping litter the best at a reasonable price. They’ve just changed the packaging though, but I’m assuming it’s the same product inside.

Oh, and for tracking I’ve got these.

I wish they were a bit bigger, but as the trays are all covered the cats have to step out onto the mats & most of the bits do stay there

I don't think the Sainsbury one is eco friendly though ?
I'll order some oko and give that a try.
I tend to try layer it quite thick anyway so they can dig down if they want to

I vaccum daily so the tracking won't bother us that much plus the trays are all hidden out of sight so the litter shouldn't track into the high traffic areas

It is brilliant at clumping we have a huge cat who also does huge wees and as long as you fill it deeply (don't be alarmed to use approx. 1/4 of the bag each time) it last for ages! I am sure I could go about a month without changing the litter tray at all (not that I have ever tried but it really is the best out there).

Cat's Best have a non-tracking version called Smart Pellets (formerly known as Nature Gold).

Compostable, biodegradable, flushable
Clumps well
Doesn't smell at all, even when it's been weed on
Doesn't track or cling to long-haired bottoms.

Zooplus often sell out of Cat's Best Nature Gold / Smart Pellets but you can sign up to be emailed when they have it back in stock.

We get on ok with pets at home wood pellets. Just buy their largest cat litter remover scoop and seive it through that onto a dustpan and then return the good pellets back into the litter tray.

I have the XL scoop to and ive found the pellets dont fit through it and the pellets disintergrate into a sand like matter whicj then contamines the rest of the litter and then the whole thing needs to be tossed out

Cats best oko plus is terrible for tracking. Cats best nature gold is in pellet form and doesn't track much. World's best is also good

Have you tried Bio-Catolet? It's made of recycled paper. My senior girl does big wees too and while it is not a clumping litter, I find the wet paper sticks together and it's easy to scoop it out. (My girl doesn't really dig in her tray though - might be different if yours kicks the litter a lot.)
