My long haired old girl has got her first winter coat (she was brought up overseas in a much milder climate) and it's quite something!

Her ?mane? is crazy though and it looks like it's getting in her way when she's bathing.

Should we see about getting it trimmed or give her a little trim around her chin? Or leave her alone?

I would not trim her, do you brush her regularly? That surely should be enough never heard of a cat having a trim before but I could be wrong. Can you post a pic MN love a cat pic.

My cat is terrible too and keeps getting matted bits. He runs when he sees me with a brush or comb and doesn't like them near his hind legs. Considering getting some snipped off too (have taken the odd matt off with scissors already)

Her tolerance level are quite low in her old age. She just looks like she's constantly struggling to see over her own fur!

mine licks the under chin fluff and then chokes on it as it's so long it sticks in his mouth

I get a professional groomer to do my Persians costs about every 3-4 months.

I trim my girl's ruff. She really struggles to wash beyond it when it gets too long and I can't bear to see that. She sits very well for me, in the place where she normally gets her daily treats.

I have just acquired Lottie. Never had a long- hair before and tbh, I'm itching to get her trimmed. She's getting so much fur in her mouth when grooming, despite being brushed every day, that I'm worried she'll get huge fur balls.

I might give her a little trim around the chin to stop her choking on her own beard. Hopefully I don't get carried away and she ends up looking like a topiary poodle!

That's funny, dementedpixie I was just about to guess that your long-haired boy was related to my girl and ask which breeder he came from!

And she is going for her first undercarriage clip next week, because every time we go near her with a brush she thinks it's the best game ever and wrestles it off us and kills it. Even when she's asleep.

Try thinning scissors instead of normal scissors.

All these beautiful long haired beast!

She eyed the scissors with suspicion and legged it to the top of the cat-tree! I might have to sneak up on her when she's sleeping.
