I didn't know, I fear. I've asked for the 'spares' to go, Yes.

AlexaAmbidextra Thu 01-Feb-18 02:59:10

No, the term paddy isn't racist. The dictionary definition is 'a very angry state' i.e. Get into a paddy.

RustyPaperclips Thu 01-Feb-18 03:04:49

@Totallypearshaped I believe cozie was having a problem connecting to MN hence the multiple posts

I think the 'Are you on glue' comment was uncalled for

Royalfuckup Thu 01-Feb-18 03:27:39

At least it’s not a live one 😱

Totallypearshaped Thu 01-Feb-18 06:41:27

@AlexaAmbidextra, I think the majority of Irish posters on mumsnet DO find the term paddy racist actually. As the whiskas cat food ad says, 8 out of 10 Irish users prefer you don’t use it.

I understand from a British POV it might not seem that it is racist, especially as you can look it up in an ‘official dictionary’ and all, and try to argue from authority, but it’s the common usage that is insulting, so I propose it’s up to us all not to ride roughshod over each other, eh?

As an Irish poster, I find it racist, and that’s that- no bloody dictionary, or poster on MN is going to tell me otherwise. Take my word for it.
So, let’s all check our privilege, and lay off all the racist terms. Alright hen?

Totallypearshaped Thu 01-Feb-18 06:42:27

Glad you got that mouse sorted cozie, as I say I’ve been on MN for many years and was surprised by your post/s: everything ok? That new lad settling in yet?

SophieLMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 01-Feb-18 09:44:06

Morning all - Cozie asked us to edit the OP post to 'temper tantrum', so we've gone ahead and done that now.

As you all were!

Fluffycloudland77 Thu 01-Feb-18 09:57:34

The trouble with mice is that the more you buy the more they lose.

TheSecondOfHerName Thu 01-Feb-18 11:15:09

Photo from the internet (not my cat) of what someone found when they moved their sofa

Weezol Thu 01-Feb-18 11:21:01

I must do the broom handle under the sofa dredge sometime soon. There's usually mice, ping pong balls and stolen pens along with half the contents of my bag.

Lanaorana2 Thu 01-Feb-18 11:31:48

;) Phew.

Lanaorana2 Thu 01-Feb-18 11:47:47

Mr C saying Good Morning to PB.

Want2beme Thu 01-Feb-18 12:42:27

TheSecondOfHerName he/she looks very proud of his/her stashgrin

Oh, that's where kitty went!

Mr C looks very coy.

RustyPaperclips Thu 01-Feb-18 19:49:18

Be thankful that your mouse was not alive (just) when you found new Siamese boy tossing it across the bedroom. RIP Mousey

cozietoesie Thu 01-Feb-18 19:52:35

They've lost their red tail feathers but they still appear to be much loved. (And the supermarket has stopped selling them which adds to my woes.)

Weedsnseeds1 Thu 01-Feb-18 19:58:06

Are they brown mice with red feathers, or red mice with red feathers?
Which supermarket?
I can keep an eye out for any in stock down here if you like?

cozietoesie Thu 01-Feb-18 20:02:33

Brown mice with red feathers.

Fluffycloudland77 Thu 01-Feb-18 20:11:45

I'm going shopping tomorrow.

Lanaorana2 Thu 01-Feb-18 20:34:03

I'll have a look but I know there aren't any in Tesco or Sainsbury's round these parts.

Has there been a spot of stroking today?

Oldraver Thu 01-Feb-18 21:16:02

I love that internet picture...we still occasianally find ping pong balls hidden.

This was the haul when we moved the tv cabinet

cozietoesie Thu 01-Feb-18 21:22:01

The trouble is that I can only 'fish' for them by wriggling a long thin stick. (Watched, usually, by a fascinated PBoy who is clearly jealous as all get out.) If they've got themselves wedged against a foot or something, I have no chance.

RustyPaperclips Thu 01-Feb-18 21:35:17

Do you know if they sell them in Pets at Home? I should be going in the next day or so and will look out for them if you have a photo or description?
