He is eating about 4 tablespoons of wet tinned and 1 40g Pouch of cat soup per day at the moment with a few biscuits to get him used to dry food but i have no idea if he should be eating more than this or less ? Hes about 7-8 weeks old at the most and he weighs around 500g tops maybe a bit less ( tried weighing him on the scales but he won't keep still)

Is it kitten food you are giving? It really should be as it’s higher in calories. I don’t think cat soup is appropriate for such a small cat.
The key is little and often and much like a baby I would be guided by his appetite.
I would give a pouch but divided into 3 small meals and leave dry down to graze. If he is starving I would increase it to a pouch and a half.

Our kittens are 9 weeks old yesterday and they get through about 3 pouches of kitten food a day each, but they are quite big eaters I think!

The vet said cat soup is good as he can't manage large chunks yet. I have to mash his tinned up with a fork into a paste for him to eat it. And yes its kitten food
Still figuring out his exact age as he was found abandoned by his mother in an alley so we're not 100% sure what we're dealing with but he seems happy on the wet food and can manage one or two dry biscuits just worried he isn't getting enough to help his growth

My adult cat eats 2 a day plus a bit of dry and she's a year old but also on the small side as she had a bad start in life before we rescused her

Hi OP
Congratulations on rescuing your kitten.💜
In a similar situation I fed three kitten sachets a day and left out fresh water and Purina one kitten biscuits 24/7.he ate as and when he needed to as tummy was so small he required lots of little meals so he could help himself to the biscuits when we were in bed etc.it worked well for him he is a big healthy cat now.
Definitely stick to the kitten as opposed to cat food for the calories.
Mind you,the Purina one kitten biscuits must be moreish because none of the rescue cats will now eat anything but!😊🐱...

He's on Carny kitten tinned food from the local pet shop. My 1st rescue in November is a year old so having a newborn kitten is terrifying in comparison he's still needing his mother and is very clingy and whiny i reckon if he'd been found a week sooner than we had he'd have needed to be bottle fed. We're not sure what happened to his mother as when him and his other 4 siblings were found she'd already gone Sad
