The litter tray

How many poos does your cat do per day?

Apparently there is a poo troll on here, promise I'm not it!

Mine does about 4. I'm not sure if she gets too much food (she would beg to differ)

My 8 week old kittens seem to go about 12 times a day! It's quite sweet really, they bomb around the room playing like mad things, then they have a little bit of food, and then they patiently take turns to use the litter tray, then they curl up together for a snooze. Rinse and repeat Grin

headintheproverbial · 17/01/2018 18:31

No idea. Don't have a litter tray!

Greensleeves · 17/01/2018 18:33

Have to have a litter tray with tiny kittens as we can't let them out, it''s a covered one though which helps reduce the stench!

MikeUniformMike · 17/01/2018 18:38

He does it outside. He pees standing up when he's outside and he seems to always aim at the same plant. He tends not to poo in the garden. A neighbour's dog shits in my garden, so I hope that CharlieAlphaTango shits in theirs.

BulletFox · 17/01/2018 18:38

Greensleeves I bet they're teeny tiny little things though aren't they?

They are diddy little things

can you tell I'm OBSESSED Grin

DumbledoresApprentice · 17/01/2018 20:13

Usually just once per day, sometimes twice. How much does she eat per day?

BulletFox · 17/01/2018 20:37

It's either 2/3 terrines and biccies frequently.

We're not used to living in a small flat with no garden so I tend to balk a little when the smell hits me.

And she pees like an elephant as well!

That’s more than my cat eats but she’s quite a light eater. It doesn’t sound to me like an unusually large amount of food though.

Walkingthedog46 · 17/01/2018 21:05

My cat aged 4 (newly adopted from cats Protection) does a poo once a day, or occasionally every other day. She also only does one we a day which I find rather strange.

sweatylemon · 17/01/2018 21:12

I have 4 fluff balls
They go at least 3 times a day each.
My house smells like eau de cat poo

Toddlerteaplease · 17/01/2018 21:46

I think one each every day.

BulletFox · 17/01/2018 21:48

One each Hmm

What's your knack?

Want2beme · 17/01/2018 23:59

One of mine goes once a day, occasionally twice. My other cat is in & out during the day, so I'm not sure, but when the weather's bad, like today, I normally only see 1 poo in her tray.

HardAsSnails · 18/01/2018 09:56

Usually once, occasionally twice. Grain free diet should reduce wastage/pooing and reduce stink too.

Toddlerteaplease · 18/01/2018 10:36

Op, is that unusual? They share a tray and tend to use opposite ends I think.

BulletFox · 18/01/2018 11:05

It sounds like heaven to me if it's only one per cat per day!

Toddlerteaplease · 18/01/2018 11:25

I only scoop once daily and do a full change monthly. I use intersand classic litter. It's brilliant. No smell at all. And they don't bury it well. (My box is in the kitchen as nowhere else to put it)

EachandEveryone · 18/01/2018 14:30

Once a day usually at night. Daphne got locked out this morning and did one on the rough door mat bless her. Im so annoyed at the person who shut her out. They are mainly grain free and it gets flushed down the loo as soon as its done so i dont think it smells too bad bit im immune im sure.

BulletFox · 19/01/2018 17:20

Sorry but this is really starting to stress me out. On one bowl of bikkies there are 3 poos.

I signed on a smaller, more expensive, less nice place for us that would take cats but I'm now starting to wonder if I should have rehomed her, there's no garden here and the frequent poos in such an enclosed space is grating at me

OP posts:
HardAsSnails · 19/01/2018 17:26

What food are you feeding her?

BulletFox · 19/01/2018 17:32

She normally has 2/3 terrines of chicken catfood and 2 bowls of bikkies, water and occasionally catmilk.

I genuinely don't understand why she's pooing so much

What brands though?

HardAsSnails · 19/01/2018 17:39

I would stop the milk, it's not needed.

littlewoollypervert · 19/01/2018 17:45

Mine seem to do about 3 each per day.

However I have covered litter trays (made cheaply out of IKEA storage bins and doormats) so the smell is very contained. Google how to make them - they also reduce the litter tracking to almost nothing. Apparently you can pop an air freshener on the underside of the lid if you need to (would have to be a cat friendly one though - if they exist)
