Our cat has been missing for 4 days :(

My beautiful baby girl (nearly 3) has been missing since Sunday evening (so that's 4 nights she's been gone for now) and we have not seen her since. The longest she has ever been gone for was about a day and a half.

DH and I are so worried about her. On Tuesday evening we posted flyers through the letterboxes of the surrounding streets (about 100) and stuck them to lampposts. Have informed local vets and shared on social media (my page and local pages). Called the council to check if they have cleared any cats from the road since Sunday evening but they haven't (which gives me hope). But we have not had any response at all.

I just have no idea what to do from here, we are devastated and cant even think about Christmas now. We are calling her and looking for her regularly but no joy. I'm especially worried because its cold out there. I'm so hoping she is shut in somewhere and she gets let out soon, or has gone off for a long walk. She is such a nosey/curious/friendly little thing, so maybe she is staying at someone else's house.

Sorry for the ramble, just wanted to get everything off my chest. I think we've pretty much done everything we can for now (tempted to distribute flyers further afield, but how much further?? You could go on forever). Just miss her so much and want her home for Christmas :-( Can't stand the thought of her being trapped somewhere and being cold/starving/dehydrated Sad

I am sorry, which county are you in?

I am so sorry to hear this. Mine once went missing for a week and then turned up skinny and dirty. We think he got locked in somewhere. Have you asked neighbours to check garden sheds, coal bunkers and the like? I hope she turns up soon.

Oh nooooo, sorry.

So she has form though for going missing for a bit? You've done all you can for now, keep up patrols.

Mine doesn't like to go far from home, I'd expect to see her once every 3 hours, so when she was missing 7 hours once I got suspicious and walked around outside calling and heard a noise from the garden shed and whipped around to see a distressed, whiskered face pressing against the pane and howling (she'd accidentally snuck in when I'd got something out earlier, without me realising).

Really hope you find her soon

Ours has vanished for a week twice and both times I thought he'd gone for good. The first time he turned up at the back door but he was obviously ill (had an abcess but was fine after a couple of vet visits) and the last time he just appeared in the house and meowed at me, completely fine. The last time was so worrying as he hadn't been going out at all for weeks and it was Halloween and fireworks. He obviously just fancied a kitty holiday Hmm

She'll be fine in this weather (assuming you're UK) She shouldn't be too cold.

I really really hope she turns up, it's awful not knowing Flowers

Thank you so much for your lovely replies. We are in the North Somerset area.

The flyers we put out have asked people to check garages/sheds etc so fingers crossed they will. I'm going out again in a minute to look. I've printed out more flyers but not sure where to distribute them yet. We printed out 100 on Tuesday and posted all of them/stuck them on lampposts.

I am so hoping she just turns up like nothing has happened! I am so glad that the council confirmed they haven't collected any dead cats though, that gave me some hope that shes still out there. I guess for now its just a waiting game really 😞

Can you put a used litter tray outside?
Any neighbours gone away? Cat could be shut in. Ours keep going in neighbour's garages and getting shut in.
Good luck.

Otters did you post about your dcat?
Op can I suggest you go out shouting each night? My dcat stumbled home after 10 cold October nights with a back leg hanging off! The vet said us keep shouting would have given him the will to get home!! The cold slowed the blood loss apparently too. He managed fine on 3 legs and was a popular little chap with the neighbours - always gaining extra food!!

I will definitely keep going out & calling for her each evening. My DH has been working from home this week in the hope she will turn up.

We have a litter tray, but my other cat is the only one who uses it, however it's definitely worth a go so thank you for the suggestion.

Losing hope rapidly, but trying to keep positive and look forward to Christmas. This will be the fifth night she has been out now Sad

Also, very reassuring to hear of those cats who have returned after a break away! Some of them are amazing!

My cat went missing for 8 weeks! We had moved house I guess he wandered a bit further than usual and couldn't get home.

I went for lunch one day at a pub 2 - 3 miles from home and he ran to My car miowing loudly! Best surprise ever. Staff said he had been there a week or two prob eating leftovers.

No advice just to say there is hope, cats are very resourceful. Good luck Flowers

Mine went missing for 10 days in Oct and we did what you did OP and he was found 40 houses down behind a shed. People we ringing me all the time from the bottom of the street saying that they had seen him and that he was down there. I had so many calls it was unbelievable.
I was going down there all the time shouting and talking to people. Eventually a man rang and said he was there now and I dashed down and called him. He was behind the shed and was wailing walking towards me. the man who owned the house gave me a lift home and the cat didnt stop wailing for about 3 hours. He was so pleased to be home.
Put him on your local missing pets page on Facebook and also on your areas Facebook page. I bet he will turn up.

Just remembered about a cat Molly that I had - a beautiful fluffy tortie We had recently moved house and she went missing.
6 months later I went to the local hairdresser and she was sitting outside under a tree!! Got a box from the fruit shop and scooped her up. Knocked on a few doors and they said she had been sleeping in a shed and been seen catching birds. She had a few smashed teeth and a bit skinny, but none the worse for wear really.

Thank you so much for sharing your stories, they're making me feel a bit better! Still nothing unfortunately , its been 6 days now Sad starting to lose hope Sad

We moved to this house at the end of October, but she has been coming in and out of the house happily for about 6 weeks so I'm confident she knows this is home. We moved about 6 miles down a big main road from the next town, so I can't see that she would try to make her way back...but who knows! Luckily we were living with the in laws before so if she does make her way back there, at least they know who she is!

We once had a cat go missing for two weeks. It turned out he'd managed to get into a property unnoticed, the owner then locked up and went on holiday. We gave up hope completely. He survived the experience relatively unscathed.

I hope your cat comes home soon.

Ours went missing for six months and turned up out of the blue. He had lost weight but wasn't super thin so can only assume someone had taken him in.

Same area as me rainbowcakes can you post a picture or pm it to me and I will put it on my Facebook feed for you.
Is the cat microchipped?
You could try RSPCA North Somerset in Brent Knoll, they often get overflow strays from the surrounding area as they are a large centre.
There's also a Cats Protection in Weston Super Mare, Bristol Cat and Dogs home and a large rescue centre over Langport direction ( can't think of the name but you can Google it)

Lost cats North Somerset Facebook link.
There were two tabbies picked up in separate locations on the 20th.
There's also a W-S-M list cats page

Thanks everyone. Have requested to join some of those Facebook groups and put up some more posters/posted flyers this afternoon. Just phoned the RSPCA - no joy there but they have taken my details.

Here is a pic of her on the very small off chance that anyone sees her or wouldnt mind sharing it if you are local to me. I live in the Clevedon area of North Somerset :)

I'm so sorry. My baby girl (7 months) hasn't come home from 8am this morning and I am already going spare. We don't have neighbours as we are on a remote farm, so I can't even tell myself she is locked in anywhere. I just have to hope she has curled up somewhere to keep out of the wind
