For 4 days? Leaving them on their own with the neighbour popping in?

Yes. I would give it a clean and change filter and ask neighbour popping in to top up if necessary. They hole 3 litres anyway so should be fine for a few days

The pumps a fish tank filter so it's designed to run 24/7.

This is what they are made for. It should be fine.

When my mum goes away, normally for a few days to a week, I pop in a couple of times a day. She leaves the water fountain on during that time, and I just top it up as required.
It's never been an issue, and feels safe

I always leave it on. I left it on when I was away for 2 weeks and neighbour was popping in once a day.
