The litter tray

Odd wee behaviour

I discovered a week or so ago that my girl was weeing on the back door mat.
Now it is important to note that she never leaves the house by the back door and it’s not near her cat flap.
She has a curfew at dark and had a litter tray in the summer house which has her catflap in it.
After we found she was weeing on the doormat we moved her tray there, after we binned the doormat.

So now we have the tray where we can see and hear it and she seems to wee endlessly at certain times.

When I got home she used her tray 5 times in one hour. After dinner she only used it once.

Is it worth a visit to the vet or is this just a displacement activity while she waits for dinner.
(Also she didn’t go outside at all yesterday as she was afraid of the snow)

My cat recently started weeing a lot like that, and it turned out she had cystitis. I'd take her to the vets.

Yup I’d take her to the vet.
Once any issues have cleared up it should be relatively easy to get her back to going elsewhere. Remove and destroy your door mat (sorry) replace with new and I’d also scent with lemon if poss. Take her to where you want her to go and make up a fresh tray in front of her, then if you can pick her up, place her in the tray to smell it and have a scratch around. Hope it works for you. Lemon helped us loads when toilet training our rag doll who was a bit of a bugger at first!

She’s not used her tray at all today.
I think she was just being a princess about the snow.
