Kitten won't eat kitten food

Kitten is 7 months old and have tried various dried kitten foods and she doesn't seem to like any of them. She just picks the odd bit she likes eats that and leaves the rest! We have an older cat so the kitten tries to run to her bowl for the her dried food which is good for over 12 months so I presume she can't have that and take her away. I spoke to the vet and she just said try her with scrambled egg so j made it up this evening and she went mad for it bless her! She seems so hungry but yet won't eat any kitten dried food.
I don't think it would be good for her to just eat scrambled egg every day so what else can I do? Could I put her on the 12 month plus cat food although she's 7 months?

I gave up with the kitten food as he was fighting the older cat for his food (they never actually fought, the older cat is too much of a pushover he just watched the kitten eat his food). The vet suggested feeding them separately etc but it was too much fac tryong to keep them in separate rooms till they had eaten their dinner, they both like to eat a bit and go back later. So the kitten started adult food only at around 5 months, he seems ok he’s just over one now. Vet gave me the it doesn’t have right nutrition for a kitten but some nutrition is better than none

I'd advise wet kitten food. I work with kittens (in a neonatal ward of an animal shelter) and very few are fond of the dry stuff, it tends to take time for them to transition and most still prefer wet food. You can also hear it up in the microwave which would make it even more appetising and could be why she enjoyed the eggs so much. Alternatively try a few brands of dry kitten food, maybe something with the same ingredients as that of the adult cat, it could just be the specific flavour that your cat's not a fan of.

Wet food definitely. Mine liked Tesco chunks in gravy rather than the ones on jelly.

Do you think I should give her wet food every day? Or mix it with the dried kitten food she doesn't like? The vet did say to keep away from the wet food though?

In 1986 kitten food wasn't commercially available, so kittens ate weetabix. Or the older cat's food.

At 7 months cats aren't really kittens, it's all advertising. Give it normal wet cat food and get on with normality

Why did the vet suggest to keep her away from wet food? Kittens of a few weeks are transferred to wet food, there's ones specifically formulated for kittens. Does she have a specific condition?

No condition but did have some diarrhoea early on fine now. Vet said keep away from wet food mainly and give as a treat now and then. Going to try her with the older cat food now and some wet and see how we get on, thanks everyone!

Kittens don't need special kitten food, wet or dry. The kitten food is slightly higher in calories, that's all. Give her the adult cat food.

I've currently got the kitten (15 weeks) preferring the big cats dry food but also eating the kitten wet food and the big cat preferring the kitten wet food but also eating the big cat dry food. And both of them ignoring the kitten dry food unless there's nothing else around. I've given up any idea of controlling this, and the mixed diet doesn't seem to be causing the kitten any problems in that she's wildly energetic, has a lovely coat and poo seems nice and normal. However, the big cat is definitely putting on weight! I tend to do wet food twice a day in smallish amounts and then leave dry food down so they can graze whenever they want.

I give wet and dry food. Mine get 2 wet feeds a day with dry left out all the time. One of mine never liked dry to start with but did start eating it eventually. They ate AVA dry kitten food and now eat the adult AVA dry food alongside wet food

Wet food is good as cats arent big drinkers so they get fluids from their food
