Kidney disease

My 3 year old indoor cat had been drinking lots of water, trying to lick the taps etc & just behaving very oddly for a couple of days.
On Thur night he looked liked he was dizzy and off balance so we brought him to emergency vet.
His glucose was a bit high, they don’t think high enough for diabetes, his kidney function is pretty low and potassium was low. He’s also lost half his body weight since last year, he was a very big cat & I had changed his food as he was overweight but didn’t realise he had lost as much as he has. sad
They have him on a drip since yesterday morning. Waiting on results of more bloods..
Anyone any idea, no clue what’s going to happen, kids are devastated.

How is he now, Fifer ?

Thanks for asking, we got him home Sunday night.
On a special renal diet & to get more bloods on Thur morning.
He’s in great form, eating the new food really well, never seen him eat as much actually.
Fingers crossed can keep him stable, just to keep very close eye on him as his kidney disease is pretty advanced.
Really unusual as he’s so young.

He is BEAUTIFUL! Very glad you got him home, and that he is thriving thus far. Hope he continues to do well.
