So if my near 13 year old suddenly changes behaviour it could mean she's in pain?

She's always been sweet, just not a lapcat. So I quite a shock last night when she suddenly jumped up on me, curled up and started purring away!!

Was the heating off?.

I have had cats suddenly change behaviour like this, usually triggered by an environmental change (noticeably after one of the other cats dying in our multi cat household).
So has anything changed?
Otherwise she may just be cold - or doing this to confuse you. grin
While purring can be a sign of pain - with no other indicators I wouldn't have thought it was likely from your description. Jusy keep an eye on her.

I guess it is getting colder, I only was walking to the kitchen when I plonked myself down on an armchair waiting for the kettle.

Then couldn't move I was so surprised and didn't want to disturb her

Yeah LOADS of change. Poor little thing.

I'll watch out for her and flying furry lap-seeking missiles
