Don't know what to do here, Big cat seems pretty accepting @thecatneuterer, what should I do for the best.

He has raggedy ears, a big wide face and is skinny as fuck, but seems friendly.

I think probably a tom that was once domesticated, not neutered but has been cast out for whatever reason.

Have left the back door open and he and Big cat are sniffing each-other.

Pick a name, only thing to do

BrutusMcDogface Sat 14-Oct-17 20:57:07

Is big cat male or female?!

ButtonLoon Sat 14-Oct-17 20:58:45

Brutus, a Tom is a nickname for a male cat.

Wow how lovely they are getting along already! He sounds gorgeous. What did you say his name is again?

Big cat is a neutered male.

He had his sister as a companion but she was run over a year ago, he's pretty chilled with other cats.

Great e him a blanket tonight and take him to the vet tomorrow. If your cat is female and not spayed then she’s already pg.

X-post. The first part of my post stands however. Unless he’s microchipped/has an address capsule, you appear to have acquired a cat.

ILikeyourHairyHands Sat 14-Oct-17 21:02:17

He's ventured into the kitchen, then sauntered off into the garden.

We've been found, haven't we?

EachandEveryone Sat 14-Oct-17 21:08:53

How lovely. Will you have to wait until Monday?

ILikeyourHairyHands Sat 14-Oct-17 21:09:04

The reason I mentioned his ears is I think he's been a Tom on the streets for a while and has been getting in scraps, as is the wide face which is a feature of mature toms.

ILikeyourHairyHands Sat 14-Oct-17 21:11:20

Don't know, he's ventured off with big cat, they are sitting on the garden wall, a few feet apart, there is intermittent hissing on both parts but it seems fairly good-natured.

Big's a lover not a fighter.

Stray car may bugger off, thankful for the meal(s), and we may never see him again.

Want2beme Sat 14-Oct-17 21:31:27

He knows here you live now. It's for the best.

BrutusMcDogface Sat 14-Oct-17 21:50:17

I know a tom is a male, but was just wondering about the op's cat!

Looks like he's found a friend! 😺

ILikeyourHairyHands Sat 14-Oct-17 21:55:37

He does. He's still chilling out with Big on the back still.

They are both black cats with yellow eyes.

Brothers from another mother almost.

Their lurking is quite amusing.

But yes, should Uncle Monty (as he is now known, Big's full name is Captain Big), decide to stick around, he will be welcomed, fed, and have his balls chopped off tout suite.

thecatneuterer Sat 14-Oct-17 21:58:59

Congratulations you have another cat. And your plan is the right one. He will need to stay in somewhere for a few days after the ball chopping - so a spare room, or the bathroom, garage - anywhere where he can't get out. And the horrific tom cat smell will wear off after about a week.

Awwlookatmybabyspider Sat 14-Oct-17 22:05:38

He's chosen you. How lovely. He must know he can trust you.
Can we see a pic of him

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats Sat 14-Oct-17 22:13:05

My first cat (30 odd years ago) did this. Just appeared one day and moved in. He was also a big proper tom cat. He never sprayed, didn't get into fights (he did eat three tins of cat food a day though shock) and was the most affectionate cat I've ever had. He lived with us as a complete tom for several years until we had to have him done because we needed to put him in a cattery.
Good luck with your new arrival it's an honour to be chosen by a cat grin

Ooh new cat, and they are already getting along. De-balling, naming and nurturing sounds an excellent plan smile

He came back tonight! With bloody Big cat, they walked into the kitchen together wanting their bloody dinner.

Crappy photo as he's a bit nervous but here is.

NoCryLilSoftSoft Sun 15-Oct-17 20:25:40

Ahhh! You're is now without a doubt.

We had a cat that found us like this. We came home from school one day and found this scrawny scrap of a thing with its head stuck inside an empty can of cat food from our bin. Got him free and fed him and he never left. Once he had some weight on him his fur just grew and grew into this huge gorgeous brown fluff ball. He was the sweetest natured cat ever. So affectionate. He stayed with us for a few years and then disappeared as suddenly as he had arrived sad

It's great that they've made friends so quickly. How lovely for everyone.
