The litter tray

How on earth did you name your cat?

Ours is brown. I'm really struggling to name her. She came from a rescue, but as it was a litter, they all had really silly names! Hers is Cello... Seems very masculine Grin she doesn't know her name. She is so little.

I rather like Cello!
Mine have had odd names - some from books, one named after the brand on a box she hid in on arrival, current one after a witch trial ( not Salem)..

How about changing it to Cleo?

Well we can't possibly comment without a pictureGrinWink
My DH is responsible for our two, Basil and Sybil. They kind of suit their names though.

PosiePootlePerkins

You can't have Basil and Sybil. I do. Grin.

They came from Battersea cats home named Basil and Bluebell. We thought the name Bluebell was naff so Sybil was the obvious choice for renaming.

What about conker? Connie for short? Brown/autumn related?
We have Eric and Ernie
And before that mimi and mao
Before that Lucy Poppy and Megan

I've got Basil and Sybil as well! Basil came first, and Sybil was the perfect choice when a girl kitten came my way.

Right Op - call her Sybil and you won't need to worry about what to call your second cat. Smile

My cat is called 'Cat'. The live hamster she brought in was called 'Hamster'. Can you see a pattern? My Dcs do have 'real' names. I think my cat thinks she is called 'Get down' off the table and kitchen surfaces. I do hope my post was truly inspirational.

Mine are named after star trek characters.

Look at dat widdle face!

She's beautiful OP. I like human names for cars. Perhaps she's an Elsie. Small & cute!

My first cat's name was chosen because I've always liked the name Yvonne Grin

Oh, she's gorgeous - how about "Biscuit"?

One of ours is Dante because "cats are in fur, no?" [Disclaimer, the dodgy pun is purely of DH's making, nothing to do with me Grin ]. The other one's called Velvet due to softness of coat.

My cat was nameless for a week or so as a kitten as he didn't suit the name he came with and he was a right monkey into everything so mischief stuck as his name 😊 Suited him perfectly

Cookie

zero us too! It was the fault of the Cats Prot fosterer but we didn't object. Though we did subsequently rename one to a Babylon 5 name. ;-D

Mawwwww!!!! She's gorgeous! Another vote for Conker.

Mine is called Bear because he's a lovely black bear.

We looked up famous birthdays shared with our cat. He was born November 30, so it was between Winston or Churchill, or Billy (Idol). He suited Billy more.

You could use the name of my husband’s childhood cat, Brownie. They also had... wait for it... Blackie, Whitey, Bluey & Marmalade Grin.

I love TheLongRider's suggestions of Cocoa, Truffle and Cookie.

Is Brownie too obvious?

Mocha
Kahlua
Kona
Java
Capucine / Cappucino
Ghirardelli / Godiva
Tootsie (tootsie roll = choc flavoured American chewy candy)
Toffee

Hazel
Sienna (hopefully nor 'Burnt')

Lapsang Souchong
Oolong
Pekoe
Camellia

My cat is a Siberian. Her name is a mismash of French Minou and a vaguely Russian ending -shka.

x-post with BigGreenOlives wrt Brownie - I didn't mean to criticise 'Brownie' - think it would be very cute.

ElizaDontlittle · 05/10/2017 05:48

I'd go for Cleo or Celia or Caro given her rescue name. She is super cute.

I like diminutive human names for cats and my older girl arrived called Hetty- I call her Hettycat - so the boy kitten had to 'match' and so I renamed him Toby(cat)!!
