New kitties. Younger than we was led to believe.

Hi all.

We went and picked up our new kitties today. A beautiful female and male. They're both tabby's and the most beautiful little fur babies I have ever seen.

We was told last week that they both turn 8 weeks old today and needed to go to a new home ASAP, otherwise they were going to a rescue. We arranged to collect them today since they are at the 8 weeks mark and drove over an hour to collect them.

As soon as we got there, I couldn't hide my worry about their age. They looked younger than 8 weeks. She assured me that they are and we have brought them home.

She then text me later saying that "she just had to tell me" that actually, they turn 8 weeks old next week.

They're weaned and litter trained thankfully, but we wasn't really wanting to adopt kittens this tiny as we think it's unfair. We are happy we did though of course.

So I'm just looking for some advice really. I want to make sure I'm doing the absolute best for our beautiful kitties.

Throw any tips my way.

Mine were that old and settled fine Now two yo and very docile cats.
They needed a tonne of sleep then mad half hours of excessive play
Constantly hungry Now fatties are on a diet.
A good quality food. Toys and fun they will do fine.

I kept them inside until 16 weeks. Kittens are stupid and no use of danger.

And litter tray law is you must post pics of new kitties.

It's not ideal and could lead to a bit more undesirable behaviour but physically they'll be fine. They usually nurse up to 6 weeks (but could be a lot longer - depends on the mum) but between 6 and 8 weeks is when mums put the babies in their place. What some breeders perceive as mum wanting rid of the babies is in fact mama disciplining them, teaching them important lessons.

They'll be fine. Don't worry.

I ended up with a 6 or 7 week old kitten and to be honest it was no different to an 8 week old kitten in my experience. Lots and lots of sleep and keep them warm. Also check for fleas if she is happy to lie bout their age I wouldn't trust that they have been wormed and flead.

No advice in regards to looking after a kitten that young, but if you plan on letting them outside I would suggest keeping them indoors as long as possible, if you've seen any Toms around. My baby was killed the first evening she was let out and it now worries me immensely.

Don't mean to be a downer, though! I wish you and your babies the best, I imagine their young age will require lots of sleepy cuddles

I was told they had been flead and wormed, I don't trust this though, as a poster said above. It's possible she lied about that too.

Their first night is going well, I believe.

They sleep, eat, play, play fight, eat, sleep again and have the odd 'meow' where I am guessing they are shouting for their mum.
