Well when we brought home our Ragdoll Bella we were warned they were addictive.

We already had an adult cat who sadly passed away from FIP 3 weeks after bringing Bella home. It was a total shock!

So as we never intended on having just one cat we looked for a companion for Bella and amazingly found a stunning kitten born the same day as Bella from a different breeder! She had been held back as a potential breeding queen and then advertised at 14 weeks so we snapped her up.

So now we have 2 kittens! They love each other already and they are so entertaining.

So introducing India (and Bella) if you havnt already seen her. India is the seal point and Bella is the blue mitted. Got different colours to make sure we can tell them apart!

What beautiful kitties although I would be quite concerned about India flexing her claws.

Why is that a concern Troy? She does walk a little funny and we wondered if her claws needed a trim and that was why.

Scratching stuff and getting into mischief. My "concern" was tongue in cheek. Sorry if you didn't get it.

Ahhh phew! I thought there was an issue. She always has her claws out, she kneads with them. I expect the rug won't last long but I don't like it anyway and DP bought it so she'd be doing me a favour if she destroys it.

They are totally stunning. These posh kitties really make a home look stylish dont they? Mine looks like a junk shop to go with my scruffy kittens!

I needed posh kitties to smarten up my scruffy house lol. On a serious note they are the first pedigrees we have owned, had a horrible experience getting a moggy kitten a few months ago that was seriously ill, cost us a fortune in vet bills and then died leaving us heartbroken. Can't bear to go through that again so we looked for health tested, vaccinated, chipped, neutered kittens from a registered breeder just for the peace of mind really.

Absolutely stunning! What fun you are going to have! 2 kittens definitely more than double trouble, but such fun to watch.

In my living room I have a large cat tree, a large cat barrel, a scratching post with a bed on top, a big dog bed in the corner AND a raised cat bed right next to the couch.

Where are the kittens currently sleeping? One on my chest and the other on the tv unit blocking the remote signal! So I can't change the chanel with the remote and I can't move to do it by hand either.

This feels way too organised to be a coincidence!

They are both beautiful... but....Bella!!! Like a chocolate box kitten: absolutely stunning. India looks like she's going to have a lot of sass character Grin.

Do these kind of cats have to stay indoors?

Report
MargotLovedTom1 · 27/07/2017 13:01

I looked into getting a Ragdoll and they are recommended to be indoor cats. No street smarts Wink, and probably a lot more vulnerable to being stolen.

CatchingBabies · 27/07/2017 14:46

They often recommended them to stay indoors only as they could be stolen due to their looks. They are no less a cat than a moggie and believe me there is NOTHING wrong with the hunting instincts of these two! I prefer to keep my cats indoor with a cat proofed garden anyway as not a fan of free roaming cats and the dangers they face but I do know people with Ragdolls that let them out and have no problems.

Honestly, everything I read brought up the fact that they're not very streetwise as one of the main reasons to keep them in (as well as the stealing risk which I also mentioned) , so I was answering EachandEveryone in a general sense Smile.

That 'honestly' was meant in an earnest 'truly' sense, and not "Sheesh...honestly!!" Wink.

It's a myth Margot, same as the floppyness they are always said to have. It was made up by the person creating the breed. Some are like that some are not, exactly the same as any other cat breed.

I know :)

This is from the Ragdoll club about the floppy myth. They do say keep them indoors as to most places yes and I agree with them but it's not for any unique reason other than the risk of theft, car accidents, fighting etc.

The Bengal cat club says they can't go outdoors and no one could say they are too docile or trusting so what's the reason? It's said to keep pretty much all predigrees indoors. I'd keep a moggie indoors also but if you're someone who lets them out I don't see the difference moggie or pedigree, they are still cats.
